DTF prints peeling or powder falling off?
This is one of the most common issues I see — and it’s usually not just the film or ink.

In most cases, it comes down to process control, not materials alone.

From real production cases, here are 5 points every DTF buyer or shop owner should know:

1️⃣ More ink ≠ better adhesion
Over-inking often causes poor curing → bubbles → peeling after heat press.

2️⃣ White ink must come first
Correct structure = White ink → Color ink
Wrong order = weak bonding.

3️⃣ Heat press settings decide everything
Too low → poor bonding
Too high → cracking or deformation.

4️⃣ Film quality matters more than expected
Good ink + powder + poor PET film = failure.

5️⃣ Powder is the “glue”
Too much or too little both cause adhesion problems.
Standard powder ≠ elastic powder.

DTF ink is formulated to work specifically with DTF printers and PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) films. It is a pigment-based ink, meaning it contains fine particles of colored pigments that provide bright, vivid colors and excellent durability when transferred onto fabrics.

DTF Printing Ink Usage

Printing:

The DTF printing process starts with the design being printed directly onto a DTF transfer film using a printer equipped with DTF inks. The design is printed in reverse, with white ink as the base layer followed by the color inks.

Powder Adhesive Application:

After printing, a hot-melt adhesive powder is applied to the wet ink on the film. This powder adheres to the ink and acts as the adhesive layer that will bond the print to the fabric during the heat press transfer.

Curing:

The printed film with adhesive powder is then cured using heat. This step ensures that the ink and adhesive powder are properly dried and bonded together, preparing them for transfer.

Transfer:

The cured film is placed onto the fabric, and heat and pressure are applied using a heat press. This transfers the ink from the film to the fabric, with the adhesive powder ensuring strong adhesion between the ink and the fabric fibers.

Final Product:

The result is a vibrant, durable print on the garment that retains flexibility and stretchability, ensuring comfort and longevity.
