π 1KM WiFi Coverage Starts With the Right Installation
A recent Starlink resort project reminded us of an important point:
Higher is not always better.
The customer had two main installation issues:
π³ Wrong location β the antenna was surrounded by trees, reducing line of sight.
π‘ Too high β the antenna was installed much higher than necessary for the actual coverage area.
For this type of antenna, we recommend optimizing the installation height according to the coverage area β typically 2β3m above the highest nearby building, rather than simply installing as high as possible.
After reviewing the site, we recommended moving the mast to a more open location.
For resorts with trees and multiple buildings, a better solution is:
Starlink β Switch β Outdoor AP + Indoor APs
Outdoor AP β Open areas
Indoor APs β Rooms & buildings
π Long-range WiFi is not just about distance. Location, height and network design all matter.
