This is one of the most common UL Marks. If a product carries this Mark, Underwriters Laboratories found that samples of this product met UL's safety requirements. These requirements are primarily based on UL's own published Standards for Safety. This type of Mark is seen commonly on appliances and computer equipment, furnaces and heaters, fuses, electrical panelboards, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers and sprinkler systems, personal flotation devices like life jackets and life preservers, bullet resistant glass, and thousands of other products.
Product testing can be verified through UL directories online at http://www.ul.com

The product with this mark ETL on it has been certified by ITS. This certification mark indicates that the product has been tested to and has met the minimum requirements of a widely recognized U.S product safety standard, that the manufacturing site has been audited, and that the applicant has agreed to a program of periodic factory follow-up inspections to verify continued performance.
What is the difference between the ETL Listed Mark and UL ?

Certification marks – like the ETL Listed Mark – demonstrate compliance to the requirements of widely accepted product safety standards, as determined through independent testing and periodic follow-up inspections by an NRTL (Nationally Recognized TestingLaboratory) . It is the quality of customer service and of the capabilities provided by the testing laboratory issuing each certification mark that sets them apart.

Do local inspectors know the ETL Listed Mark?

Yes. Inspectors and the Authorities Having Jurisdiction recognize and accept the ETL Mark as proof of product compliance throughout North America and in some areas of South America.

Will retailers accept my product if it bears the ETL Listed Mark?

Yes. Our product safety certification program includes the same testing, listing, labeling, and follow-up inspection services as competing certification marks (such as UL, CSA, and others), and our lab is accredited by the same organizations, agencies, and regulatory bodies.

What does the ETL Mark mean when displayed on my product?

The ETL Listed Mark indicates to distributors, retailers and customers that your product has been tested by Intertek and found in compliance with accepted national standards.

What countries accept the ETL Listed Mark?

The ETL Mark is accepted throughout the U.S. and Canada. However, we are an international certification organization authorized to issue these product safety marks and more: NOM Mark, CE Marking, GS Mark, S Mark



How long has the ETL Listed Mark been around?

ETL has a long history that began in 1896 when Thomas Alva Edison founded Electrical Testing Labs (ETL). Edison’s vision was to provide assurance to consumers through product performance and safety testing. When manufacturers apply Intertek’s ETL Listed Mark to their products, the letters “ETL” carry with them a long history of innovation, influence, and independence.
