A belt clip is a small line on a purchase order and a large line on a site if it is the wrong one. Three things to check before ordering the PMLN4651A.

The part number. Motorola publishes the accessory as PMLN4651 on the product page and as PMLN4651A on the shop listing. Same accessory, and the suffix is what most order systems expect — worth confirming which form your supplier's catalogue uses before the PO goes out.

The dimensions. 3.00 in H × 0.25 in W × 1.25 in L, or 76.20 × 6.35 × 31.75 mm. Hard plastic, black, spring-action, fixed angle.

The radio it is going on. Motorola publishes a compatible device list for this clip, and it runs across several generations: APX 900, 1000, 2000 and 4000 series; XPR 3000, 6000 and 7000 series including the e-series; DEP 550 and 570 series; DGP 5050e, 5550e, 8050e and 8550e; DP1400 through DP4801e; GP328D Plus; MOTOTRBO Ion, R2, R5, R7 and R7a; and the XiR P6600i, P8600i and P8800R families.

Send the radio model with the quantity and we'll confirm the part and price it.

An IP rating is a sentence with a footnote attached. For the DEM 500 the footnote is an install instruction.

Motorola rates the radio IP54 and to MIL-STD — and states the rating holds with the microphone sealing boot and the rear accessory connector cover properly installed. Two parts, fitted correctly, are the difference between a wet-weather-rated mobile and a housing with a claim on it.

The rest of the published environment list:

IP54, which Motorola describes as protection against driving rain
MIL-STD 810 C, D, E, F and G
ESD to IEC 61000-4-2 Level 3
Operating range −30 °C to +60 °C, storage −40 °C to +85 °C
Thermal shock, humidity and packaging testing per MIL-STD
Accelerated Life Test: the design has to survive a simulated five years of hard service before it is accepted
Worth putting in the install checklist rather than discovering in the field.

Message us the band and the unit count and we'll quote that configuration.

A charger pod is only half the order. The other half is the power supply and the battery, and Motorola publishes a list for each.

The PMPN4527A is the pod. The power supply is ordered for the destination market:

25009297001 — 14 W, 120 VAC (US, Taiwan)
2571886T01 — 21 W, 90–264 V (JPN, BZL, India)
PS000037A01 — 14 W, 207–253 V (EU)
PS000037A02 — 14 W, 207–253 V (UK, Hong Kong)
PS000037A03 — 14 W, 207–253 V (Australia, New Zealand)
PS000037A04 — 14 W, 207–253 V (Argentina)
PS000037A05 — 14 W, 207–253 V (China)
PS000037A06 — 14 W, 207–253 V (Korea)
On the battery side, the authorized list covers NiMH and Li-Ion packs across IP56, IP57, IP67 and IP68 versions, along with FM, IECEX and ATEX, TIA4950 and CSA157 packs. The battery number decides the charge, so it comes first.

Motorola lists the MOTOTRBO R7 among the products this charger is compatible with.

Three conditions from the manual: indoor, dry locations only; ambient temperature around the charger no higher than 40 °C; and the radio switched off while charging, unless it is transmitting data over Wi-Fi. The charger itself is not repairable, so spares are ordered as complete units.

Send the radio or battery model with the quantity, and we'll match the power supply for your market and price it.

A radio is judged at the point where somebody has to hear it: over a machine, across a yard, next to a vehicle.

The DEP 500e Series carries an audio chain for exactly that, and the DEP550e uses the same list.

Intelligent Audio — volume that follows the ambient noise
SINC+ Noise Cancellation, listed as an option, for steady background noise
Acoustic Feedback Suppressor — for the squeal when radio audio gets back into the microphone
User-selectable audio profiles, so a production floor and an office do not share one setting
Trill Enhancement
IMPRES audio and Switch Speaker
Published audio figures: rated audio 0.5 W, 3% distortion at rated audio, AMBE+2 digital vocoder, and hum and noise of −40 dB on a 12.5 kHz channel and −45 dB on 25 kHz.

Where flammable or explosive materials are present, HazLoc versions are available, certified to TIA-4950 and UL-approved with a Motorola UL-approved battery.

Four kinds of teams keep this radio on the kit list, and the reason is the same every time: the job is standing, walking and talking.

Security — escorting valuables, covering events, moving through a site. The radio rides under a jacket or on a belt.

Hotel and venue staff — floor-to-floor checks and urgent guest requests, answered without stepping away.

Management and supervision — voice contact, no dialling, no hunting for signal.

Emergency response — command and control on scene, where the audio has to cut through the noise.

What carries across all four:

Voice compression and low-level expansion for intelligibility in a loud environment
Built-in VOX, so transmitting works without pressing the PTT key
Switchable RF power levels from a single button — high power for reach, low power to stretch the battery
Repeater or talkaround, selectable
Tight or normal squelch, to filter weak interference or widen coverage
Tone tagging: eight ringing tones assigned to eight users or talkgroups
Tri-colour LED battery gauge; up to 16 channels
Signalling: Quick Call II, DTMF, limited MDC1200
What band will these operate on, and how many units are you sourcing?

Icom publishes an environmental test list for the IC-V8000. It reads like this.

Low pressure. High temperature. Low temperature. Temperature shock. Solar radiation. Rain. Humidity. Salt fog. Dust. Vibration. Shock.

The radio is listed as tested to and passed those requirements across the MIL-STD 810 C, D, E and F editions — the method and procedure numbers are printed in Icom's own specification sheet.

Underneath the test list sits a 2 m mobile with 75 W of transmit power, selectable down through 25, 10 and 5 W, in a one-piece die-cast aluminium chassis.

Also standard

CTCSS 50 tones and 104 × 2 DTCS encode/decode with tone scan
Pocket beep call indicator
Dynamic Memory Scan over 200 alphanumeric channels in 10 banks
10 dB squelch attenuator, selectable squelch delay
Weather alert scan is a U.S.A. version feature. The UT-108 DTMF decoder unit adds code squelch and pager operation when fitted.

Two remote speaker microphones. One zone classification.

Here is the difference that matters on paper.

A standard RSM

No intrinsic safety approval
Ordinary audio path in plant noise
Nothing stops wind and water at the microphone port
No emergency button on the mic
Motorola PMMN4094A

ATEX intrinsic safety approvals
IMPRES audio plus active noise cancellation
Windporting — no wind howl, no water in the mic port
IP67 — dust-tight, immersion for at least 30 minutes
Emergency button, volume control, one programmable button
3.5 mm earpiece jack and an open ATEX / IECEx Nexus interface
Fits MOTOTRBO DP4401 Ex / DP4801 Ex and XiR P8600 Ex Series radios.

If the site is zone-classified, the accessory is part of the specification.

06:00. Site security comes on shift. The radio wakes up in the security profile — its own channels, its own zones, its own contacts.

13:00. Same officer, same radio. The profile moves to event operations. Different talk groups, different call list.

21:00. Handover. The profile goes back.

That is Radio Profiles on the APX 2000 — one piece of hardware wearing several hats. Public works, utilities, campus security and local public safety each get a radio that behaves the way their shift needs it to, without buying a second radio per department.

Unified Call List keeps those contacts in one place instead of scattered through the radio.

Underneath: 512 channels, 64 MB of FLASHport memory, a colour display of 3 lines × 14 characters, IP67 as standard, and MIL-STD 810 C through G.

Message us the band and the unit count, and we'll send a quote over.
