Looking back on a special project from 2021 ✉️:
I had the pleasure of illustrating a set of four limited-edition stamps for Swiss Post on the theme “Animals in the City” 🦊🐭🌱
The collection features a fox, wood mouse, mole and stoat, each shown in real urban habitats inspired by locations around Solothurn and Olten 💁🏻‍♀️
The series highlights how nature finds its place even within towns and cities, and how urban spaces can become valuable habitats for wild animals.

Still one of my favourite illustration assignments to look back on 🥰🤩

For this project, I created a series of illustrations showing the variety of common mole types found on the skin. It was important to represent different body types, ages, and skin tones so that medical information is relatable and inclusive for a wide range of people.

Moles may appear individually or in groups, and illustrating their visual diversity helps make skin changes easier to understand in patient education materials.

I also included some of the preliminary sketches I typically create at the beginning of a project. These early drawings help clarify details with the client before moving forward with the final colored illustration.

For this project, I created a medical illustration showing the different laparoscopic patterns of endosalpingiosis in the female pelvis. 🩺✏️

The illustration presents the characteristic visual patterns of endosalpingiosis lesions as seen during laparoscopy, helping surgeons recognize their morphology and distribution within the pelvis. These lesions are typically small and often appear vesicular or cystic, and may occur in several pelvic locations such as the sacrouterine ligaments, ovaries, or fallopian tubes.

The illustration was published in the *Journal of Clinical Medicine (J Clin Med).* 📚

👉🏻 Btw: A simple way to distinguish the concepts:

🔸Endosalpingiosis = fallopian tube epithelium in the wrong place

🔹Endometriosis = uterine lining in the wrong place

Interestingly, the two conditions can look quite similar during surgery, which means endosalpingiosis may sometimes be mistaken for endometriosis intraoperatively. Clear visual representations of their characteristic patterns can therefore help improve recognition and communication in surgical practice.

For this project, I created a series of medical illustrations showing several hormonal contraceptive methods, including the contraceptive patch, the three-month injection, and the contraceptive implant. The illustrations are designed to clearly show the appearance, placement, and scale of each method to support patient education.

For this client, I developed a visual style that is less photorealistic and more simplified, using clean outlines and softly textured gradient colors. This approach keeps the illustrations approachable and easy to understand while still conveying the necessary medical detail, and it’s a style I really enjoy working in.

I also share a few of the initial sketches,before creating the final colored illustrations, I always begin by developing detailed sketches to refine form, placement, and proportions.

This is part of a larger series, there are many more illustrations, which I’ll be sharing over the coming weeks.

I had the pleasure of illustrating this minimally invasive surgical technique for a hallux deformity correction. 🦶✏️

The sequence shows a percutaneous tenotomy of the adductor hallucis tendon, followed by a transverse metatarsal osteotomy that allows controlled correction of length, rotation, and lateral translation of the metatarsal head. The deformity is then corrected and stabilized with a K-wire inserted through the osteotomy portal and guided into the metatarsal shaft, with final fluoroscopy used to confirm the correction and wire positioning.

The illustration was published in the journal *Foot & Ankle Orthopaedics (AOFAS).* 📚🩺
