I've been actively seeking opportunities to re-enter the marketing industry, applying to numerous positions. According to LinkedIn, only about one in ten applications receives attention. Despite having a couple of initial phone interviews, I've noticed a recurring trend – companies often prioritize candidates with specific industry experience, whether it's in fashion, camping equipment, pet food, or services like housing, SaaS, or food. These companies typically seek a certain number of years of experience within their specific market.
However, I believe that successful marketing goes beyond industry-specific experience. It is rooted in core skills and adaptability. In my view, a marketing manager's effectiveness is not tied to a particular industry but rather to a strong foundation of skills and the ability to adapt to different contexts. To emphasize this perspective, I've written a brief post outlining what defines a marketing manager and detailing their responsibilities.
In the fast-paced realm of modern business, marketing managers emerge as dynamic professionals capable of transcending industry borders.
