🎄 Important Update – 9880 Xmas Light Show 🎄

Unfortunately, I’ve had to undergo a pretty major medical operation that has me laid up in bed for the time being. On top of that, the light show controller took an unexpected update and now needs a hands-on fix.

Because of this, the light show will be temporarily shut down until I’m able to get back on my feet and repair it properly. I’m hoping that will be about a week.

I’m really sorry for the inconvenience and truly appreciate everyone’s patience and support. 🤍
Fingers crossed we’ll be back up and shining next week!

🎄✨ TONIGHT’S THE NIGHT! ✨🎄
November 30th • Shows start at 7:00 PM!

After weeks of late-night soldering, freezing fingers, tangled wires, and more “why isn’t this working?!” moments than I’d like to admit… the 9880XMas Light Show is officially 95% ready to shine! 😅🎅

Yes… 95%.
Why not 100%?
Well… I may or may not have blown out the Christmas tree lights because someone (me) fed 5-volt lights a generous helping of 12 volts. LOL
💥🌲💀
New tree lights are on the way — because she’s a must-have part of the show!

✨ SHOWTIMES TONIGHT!
There will be two shows every hour —
⭐ On the hour (7-8-9)
⭐ On the half hour (7:30-8:30-9:30)
⏰ From 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

The windows are dancing, the arches are alive, and later this week the giant singing faces will join the lineup!

I truly hope you enjoy the show — it’s been a wild, hilarious, slightly chaotic ride building it.
Disclaimer: If something breaks tonight… well… I guess I’m taking next week off work to fix it! 🤣

🎄✨ UPDATE FROM 9880XMas HQ! ✨🎄
The grind continues… and so does the holiday chaos! 😅

The last two days have been a full-on marathon of soldering hundreds of new lights.
✅ All the snowflakes are done
✅ The wreath is glowing
❌ My sanity? Questionable
😂

Last night I went head-to-head with a 4-hour programming nightmare… and didn’t finish testing until 11:45 PM.
Sorry neighbours! (Let’s call it a free preview of the Christmas spirit 🎶😂)

BUT — we’re back on track today!
🎧 A few songs are getting fully choreographed
💻 Uploading everything into the system
🎅 The magic is starting to come alive!

A couple notes for Sunday’s first show:
✨ The left side of the driveway won’t be working yet
✨ The two MASSIVE singing faces won’t be in this weekend’s show — they’ll be installed mid-week!

Even with those pieces missing, the show is still going to shine bright.

A few of you have been scanning the QR code on the lawn sign (thank you!!), and I wanted to give a quick update:

🎶 Prepping for a 1-song test run tonight!
This will be the first real check to see if the computer layout matches what’s outside. Fingers crossed!

🎁 And huge shoutout to Mum, who’s been working like she’s officially part of Santa’s workshop. Little elf status unlocked. 😄❤️

Today had its ups and downs at the 9880XMas Light Show build.
Some days you just need to step back, breathe, and remind yourself why you started this crazy glowing adventure in the first place. 🎄💡

The new show signs went up on the lawn — exciting, but also a reminder that the Nov 30th show date is coming fast… maybe too fast. I’m still not convinced I’ll have a full show ready, but you know me… I’ll keep pushing.

Got the driveway lights and front arches installed and… bam — half of them refused to light up. Why?
Well, turns out one lonely pixel had its tiny wires crossed inside the casing. Looked perfectly normal to the eye, just like the thousands of others I’ve cut and soldered. One wrong connection = driveway emergency surgery. 🔧💥
Fixed now, but little issues like that steal hours.

The bright spot?
Snuck out for a Christmas dinner with Mum and Dad — real food, real warmth, and honestly a much-needed recharge. ❤️🎄

Came back out into the cold afterward for a few more hours of counting LEDs and adding segments. Hoping tomorrow runs smoother because Monday is full-on programming day. I’ll post a test song Monday night to make sure the layout on the computer matches what’s actually outside. Once that’s confirmed… it’s heavy programming for the next few nights to (hopefully) make the 30th show date.

Thanks to everyone following along — this project is a wild ride, but the support keeps me going. 🙏✨

Let me tell you — Jeff (the owner) is super easy to work with and absolutely knocked it out of the park with the show sign and donation sign. Perfect quality, fast turnaround, and exactly what I needed for the display. 🎄✨

Got mum helping today — full elf mode activated. 😂🎄 She wrapped candy sticks like she was working in Santa’s unionized workshop. Between the dollar-store arts & crafts, spray paint fumes, and bows everywhere, this thing is actually starting to look legit!

Arch lights are powered up (well… almost), driveway lights are next, then it’s on to the snowflakes, the wreath, and TWO giant singing faces that will probably haunt the neighbours.

Oh — and the website is officially LIVE! 🎅✨

Spent the day building the 1" PVC window frames that’ll hold this year’s pixel lights 💡✨
It’s starting to come together — a little bit of planning, cutting, and Christmas spirit (plus a few “measure twice, cut once” moments 😅).

Only hiccup... I ordered 20 three-way elbows because I needed exactly 20… and Amazon decided to ship me 19 🤦‍♂️
Guess one window’s getting the “custom fit” treatment! 😂

Can’t wait to see these all lit up soon! 🎄🎶
