If ever you're looking for me, you can find me over there dying on the "it's not just a logo" hill ππΎβ°οΈ
Ok, dramatic, I know, but like...it actually *painssss* me when I hear people say, "it's just a logo," or, "I don't want a strategy; I just need a logo," or, "My logo is my brand."
Or...k, you get where I'm going with this, right?
Your logo is soooo much more than "typed text with a small icon next to it" (verbatim what someone once said to me π₯΄) β it's quite literally a visual expression of your brand's strategy, personality and values.
Exhibit A β¬οΈ
As with all my client projects, the bulk of the time spent creating the Belonging First visual identity was focused on the underlying strategy: what the business had to offer, who to, and how their offering differed from that of their competitors. We zeroed in on how that offering should make clients feel and then explored ways we could replicate and evoke that feeling through design.
From there, we identified core brand words to guide the overall design and created mood boards to explore what those words would look like when expressed through colour, fonts and brand photography. It's only once we refined the mood boards and landed on the right creative direction that I started designing the actual branding.
And the result?ππΎππΎ
So, the next time you hear someone say, "it's just a logo" β or maybe you're the one thinking itπ¬ β I hope you'll remember this post. Instead of seeing "just a logo," hopefully you'll see:
β’ A purposeful design that goes beyond surface-level aesthetics
