If you have the chance to experience Sacred Cuisine by Palestinian Chef Izzeldin during his Canadian West Coast tour, consider yourself lucky.

Created in collaboration with Amnesty International Vancouver and Apartheid-Free Communities, Sacred Cuisine is much more than a meal. It is a deeply moving gathering that invites us to think differently about food—and about the stories, identities, histories, and relationships that food carries with it.

VOICE was also fortunate enough to sit down with Chef Izzeldin during his incredibly busy tour across BC.

What is food?

There is no definite answer. But perhaps it includes friendship, understanding, learning, identity, history, and the possibility of peaceful resolution to some of the most challenging and complicated issues our world faces today.

Not every lavender farm is created the same.
Some reshape the land.
Others choose to listen to it.

Nestled on Salt Spring Island, Lavender&Black has spent a decade cultivating lavender while preserving the century-old forest that surrounds it. Every bloom, every scent, and every bottle reflects the landscape itself.

We were fortunate to visit during peak bloom and sit down with Awatief and Ben to learn how nature shapes not only their farm, but also the philosophy behind everything they create.

Their thoughtfully crafted wellness products showcase the unique lavender varieties and botanicals they grow and distill, inviting you to slow down and experience a moment of calm - as if you were wandering through the lavender fields 😍💜
