VOICE 183 - Chef Izzeldin Bukhari, founder of Sacred Cuisine Izzeldin Bukhari
“I started Sacred Cuisine with the goal of sharing Palestinian culinary heritage with the world, along with its stories. It is an invitation to explore the history of the Palestinian plate and of Palestine itself. “
If you have the chance to experience Sacred Cuisine by Palestinian Chef Izzeldin during his Canadian West Coast tour, consider yourself lucky.
Created in collaboration with Amnesty International Vancouver and Apartheid-Free Communities, Sacred Cuisine is much more than a meal. It is a deeply moving gathering that invites us to think differently about food—and about the stories, identities, histories, and relationships that food carries with it.
VOICE was also fortunate enough to sit down with Chef Izzeldin during his incredibly busy tour across BC.
What is food?
There is no definite answer. But perhaps it includes friendship, understanding, learning, identity, history, and the possibility of peaceful resolution to some of the most challenging and complicated issues our world faces today.

Special thanks to Chef Izzeldin, Lynn Valley United Church , Amnesty International Canada , Apartheid Free Communities , and Kat Harris. 🍉🫶✨
