TWINMOTION 2023.2 IS FINALLY HERE WITH LUMEN!

What is Lumen and why should you use it?
Lumen is a new feature in Unreal Engine 5.3, the game engine that powers Twinmotion. Lumen is a dynamic global illumination system that simulates how light bounces and reflects off surfaces in the scene. Unlike traditional methods that use precomputed lightmaps or voxel grids, Lumen uses ray tracing to calculate the lighting at each pixel on the screen. This means that Lumen can handle dynamic changes in the scene, such as moving objects, changing the sun's position, or switching materials, without any baking or rebuilding required.

The Virtual Home project entitled Voronoi (designed by Samuel Higgwe from Futureforms, Marc Northstar from Dialog, and Eve Tobey from Futureforms) got shortlisted for the Buildner Annual International Architecture Competition.

Voronoi is a virtual-looped residency that explores infinite spaces from the inside and out. It expands on the constraints of virtual living, creating an avant-garde architecture that complements the virtual surrounding site. Voronoi pushes the boundaries of design constraints apparent in the physical world such as physical orientation, gravity, and scale, by manipulating the forces of nature. It achieves this by exploiting the laws of quantum architecture, providing endless journeys to users.

The exterior form is generated from parametrically designed low-poly voronoi shapes with interiors that consist of 6 distinct spaces that form a loop, each possessing trigger zones that procedurally generate distinct visual environments and gravity parameters.

Thanks to the prize jury committee at Buildner and congratulations to the winners, it was a great experience to participate in this competitive global metaverse design competition.
