Beds tracks in the can - for more than a week now! Getting into the overdubs :) Got about 50 takes to choose from, getting deep in the first track. Its got a very cool orchestral build-up with lots of mayhem and joyful dissonance - think Beach Boys "Fire" once the groove starts, morphing into Beatles "Day in the Life". After sessions today probably have enough sounds to work with - working on words now...

A few weeks ago I biked to Stanley Park, reviewing mixes, and trying to think of a title for this tune. "Maybe Tomorrow" came to mind as did the idea of filming the video for it in Stanley Park. The piece has a pacific vibe that resonated with the surroundings. I filmed a bit on that day and came back after finishing the album to shoot more. It's so beautiful there and with the park closed to cars, I was able to safely get some sweet moving shots on my bike. There were lots of furry and feathered friends hanging out and I even caught something I've never seen anywhere - an otter w/ a fish wriggling in its mouth!
Aesthetically, VHS tape connects with the treatment of the acoustic guitar (put through an old Sony TC507 reel to reel), and the subject matter is all pretty pedestrian so I wanted to play that up, giving it home video from the 80s look, albeit with a bit of a surreal twist. The piece feels like an unearthed artifact from an imaged past. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FRjKf2eVvM
