I created this album back in 2012, and I still think it stands the test of time.
I’ve photographed weddings alongside my husband for 18 years. Designing albums for our couples was what first sparked my love of telling stories this way, and eventually led me to create Noon Creative. It brings together my graphic design background and everything I love about photography: choosing the moments, finding the rhythm, and creating something people can return to for a lifetime.
This wedding has always stayed with us. It was one of the first same-sex weddings held in a Vancouver church, and it was later featured in Cosmopolitan in the U.S. Before same-sex marriage became legal across the U.S., we also photographed American couples who came to BC to get married because they couldn’t legally do so at home.
It’s wild to think we were there to photograph a small part of that history. We’re grateful to live in a country where couples can marry the person they love. Love is love.
That’s what makes this work so special to me. I get to meet couples over video, hear their stories, and work with them through the revisions until their album feels like theirs. I don’t just get to design pages. I get to help preserve one of the happiest days of their lives.
All these years later, I still remember the joy of this wedding. And I still love the album we made from it.
