Dani Cooperman is a mixed media artist who explores the depth of a singular moment through street art and the urban landscape.
Cooperman was drawn to the world of graffiti through her own incessant urge to create. Many street artists experience this same compulsion and utilize public spaces for their artwork despite the inherent risk. In cities around the world, the role of graffiti has become a cultural medium to connect communities and ideas through art.
Harnessing the energy of the space, Cooperman manually adds graffiti and street art elements to her own original photographs. These visual constructions add dialogue to her personal experience in that place and time. The viewer is drawn into the scene and given the opportunity to produce their own emotive connection to the fabricated environment.

In Search Of celebrates the creative accomplishments of participating youth from 2 Spirited People of the 1st Nations, Nia Centre for the Arts, The Remix Project and Shoot for Peace, in a culminating exhibition from OUTREACH, G44’s award-winning darkroom program for youth throughout the GTA.

Almanac is an annual member-run exhibition in the Main Gallery surveying the work of over 140 artists within the membership. An almanac brings to mind seasons, celestial cycles and terrestrial forecasts—an assembly of disparate pieces of information, once seemingly disconnected, converge to bring new patterns to light—presenting observations of the past with anticipation for the future. About this project:
This is a more serious project of mine where I have been visiting the site of a Toronto homicide on the same date, a year, or years later. I try to make the photo around the same time, or minute of the reported murder based on publicly reported information.
The events here at this apartment building are tragic, and revisiting these sites are often mundane, and ordinary.
Time passes but the place is forever marked.
Here, 16 year old boy Mohamed Doumbouya was shot on the balcony, July 8, 2024, by two teen boys. Mohamed had attended my son’s school and would have been in grade 12 this year.

There are a lot of big moments in our lives and its wonderful to capture those on camera and in our minds, but life is made up of so much more than just the big moments. All of the little moments in between the big ones are what make up some of our most profound and lasting memories. The good, the bad, the loud, the quiet, the big gestures and the subtle expressions of emotion… it’s all a part of our beautiful life.
