Scotch bonnets got their name from their resemblance to the Tam-o-Shanter hat distinctly worn by the Scottish. And brought with colonization the Caribbean.

These gorgeous and dangerously spicey capsicums have their origin in West Africa. Nowadays they are grown and used throughout the Carribbean Islands. Each country and cuisine, not to mention family and individuals have their own histories and methods of incorporating the pepper into their cuisine.

From our table to yours, an easy and versatile while to add this amazing flavour all heat to your flavour spice palette.

Most Scotch bonnets have a heat rating of 100,000–350,000 Scoville units.[5] For comparison, most jalapeño peppers have a heat rating of 2,500 to 8,000 on the Scoville scale. However, completely sweet varieties of Scotch bonnet called cachucha peppers are grown on some of the Caribbean islands.
