Superion Inc. Superion provides businesses with Reliable and Responsive IT Support while emphasizing an Exceptional Client Experience. We provide fixed-fee service plans

Superion Inc. is the evolution of 18 years of experience and lessons learned from its founders. Having worked for various "service providers" over the years, we have learned that the only true constant with clients is that they continue to be run by their technology or held hostage by their service provider, and therefore had less time, energy, and or ability to run their business. The old school

methodology of reactive “break and fix” services meant that when you had a technology problem you had to halt what you were working on until a service provider could solve the problem. Then in most cases you had to pay a premium for that service, and pay for the technician to learn about your technology and how you were using it in order to solve the problem. The result was that your time and dollars were wasted. We took a leap from the norm and created Superion with the goal of eliminating the burden of technology for business owners. We aim to work closely with our clients to manage and maintain all their technology needs, while keeping their lives simple. We created the company to provide a simpler approach to the ever-growing demand for true Managed Services. Our internal mission is to provide a strong and responsible work place to grow the talents of our people and bring their knowledge and experiences to the needs of our clients. The happier our people are, the better they are at what they do.

This past weekend, our leadership team attended a Federal Conservative town hall focused on Property Rights and several of the major issues currently impacting Canadians, businesses, and local communities.

One topic that resonated strongly was public safety. Recent incidents close to home — including the daytime shooting in Cloverdale — are a reminder that safety and security are no longer abstract issues. They directly affect families, employees, customers, and the confidence businesses have in the communities they operate in.

At Superion, we spend every day helping organizations manage risk through cybersecurity, managed IT, business continuity, and resilient infrastructure. While our focus is often on protecting businesses from digital threats, the broader conversation around safety, preparedness, and resilience extends far beyond technology.

Strong businesses depend on secure environments — both online and in the communities around them.

Events like this are important because they give business leaders an opportunity to stay engaged, ask direct questions, and contribute to conversations that shape the future of our communities and economy.

Thank you to everyone involved in organizing the discussion and creating space for meaningful dialogue around the challenges Canadians are facing today.

We recently had the honour of welcoming Tako Van Popta, Member of Parliament, to Superion.

His visit came following a previous article we published on cybersecurity, and we appreciated the opportunity to continue that conversation in person. It was a valuable discussion focused on the very real and growing cyber risks facing small and medium sized businesses across Canada.

One of the key themes we explored is a common misconception: cybersecurity is not just a concern for large enterprises. In reality, SMBs are often more exposed. With fewer internal resources and less tolerance for disruption, a single incident can have serious operational, financial, and reputational consequences.

We spoke about the increasing pressure on businesses to strengthen their security posture while navigating cyber insurance requirements, compliance expectations, and day to day operations. For many, it is not a lack of awareness. It is a lack of clear, practical guidance on what good security actually looks like.

This is where the conversation needs to evolve.

Cybersecurity must become a business priority, not an afterthought. It requires clearer standards, better education, and stronger alignment between policy, insurance, and real world business needs. Canadian business owners need a more practical and coordinated framework that helps them protect themselves before issues arise, not just respond after the fact.
We appreciate Mr. Van Popta taking the time to visit, listen, and engage in a meaningful discussion on these important issues. It is encouraging to see elected leaders taking an interest in the challenges facing Canadian businesses as cyber risk continues to rise.

At Superion, this is not theoretical. We work directly with organizations navigating these challenges every day. Helping Canadian businesses become more secure, resilient, and prepared is at the core of what we do.

Thank you again to Mr. Van Popta for the visit and the conversation.

We’re making our trade show debut this weekend at the Construction Expo in Cloverdale.

Honestly, we could think of no better event for our first show. It’s happening right here in our own backyard — not literally, but close enough.

As a local business, it means a lot to debut in Cloverdale and connect with the people, companies, and community that make this area such a great place to do business.

If you’re attending, come say hello. We’d love to meet you.

Team Superion Unplugged (Sort of) at Camp Superion!

This past week, groups from our BC team headed to the beautiful Sasquatch Provincial Park — now proudly nicknamed Camp Superion — for some well-deserved time to connect with nature and recharge the mental batteries.

There’s something powerful about fresh air, tall trees, and lake views — paired with campfires, fishing, and plenty of laughs. Taking this time to unwind reminded us just how important balance is when working in a fast-paced tech world.

Of course, being the proud supporters of the Abbotsford Canucks that we are, we couldn’t let a little wilderness stop us from catching Round 3 action — thanks to Starlink, we streamed the game right from the woods. IT spirit never rests!

Here’s to more moments that blend connection, technology, and team bonding.

Why Your Business Must Implement Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Immediately

In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, cyber threats are growing more sophisticated, powerful, and faster by the day. Small and medium-sized businesses as well as enterprise (SMB / SME) are particularly vulnerable, often lacking the dedicated cyber security resources of larger corporations. One of the simplest yet most effective ways to protect your business against cyber threats is by implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) immediately.

The Urgency: Why MFA is Non-Negotiable

Cybercriminals are continuously targeting businesses of all sizes, and SMBs and SMEs are no exception. In fact, 43% of cyberattacks target small businesses, with many falling victim to phishing, credential stuffing, and ransomware attacks. Implementing MFA is a cost-effective, immediate action that drastically reduces the risk of unauthorized access.

The Risks of Delaying MFA Implementation

• Credential Theft: 80% of breaches involve compromised credentials, which MFA can prevent.

• Phishing Attacks: MFA adds an additional verification layer, making stolen passwords useless to attackers.

• Ransomware Threats: Many ransomware incidents start with compromised accounts. MFA significantly reduces this risk.

• Regulatory Compliance: Many industries are now requiring MFA as part of insurance compliance standards.

• Financial Damage: A single breach can cost anywhere from $120,000 to over $4 million, not including ongoing reputational and collateral damage.

Benefits of Implementing MFA Now

1. Stronger Security Against Unauthorized Access

Passwords alone are no longer enough. MFA requires users to verify their identity using at least two authentication methods, such as:
• Something you know (password or PIN)
• Something you have (smartphone app, security key)
• Something you are (fingerprint, facial recognition)

2. Protection Against Remote Work Vulnerabilities

With more employees accessing company resources remotely, MFA ensures that login credentials alone are not enough to gain access, reducing risk across multiple locations. VPN without MFA is a ticking TIME BOMB!

3. Compliance and Industry Standards

Many regulatory bodies and insurance companies now mandate MFA as a security standard. Implementing it now helps ensure compliance, avoiding potential fines and penalties.

4. Boosted Customer and Partner Trust

Clients and partners are more likely to do business with companies that prioritize security. Demonstrating strong security practices, such as MFA, can give you a competitive edge.

5. Easy and Cost-Effective Implementation

Strong MFA solutions are available, easy to deploy, and affordable.

Conclusion

Cyber threats are only increasing, and SMBs/SMEs must take immediate action to strengthen their defenses. Implementing MFA is a quick, effective, and affordable way to protect your business from devastating cyberattacks. Don’t wait until it’s too late - Let us help you secure your business today.

Caution! IT Equipment Hardware Brand Choices Matter in Cybersecurity

When it comes to building secure IT infrastructure, every decision matters—from the software you deploy to the hardware you rely on. With China recognized as a leading global cyber-threat actor, North America faces risks across all sectors, including government, civilian, and business. The recent US Treasury hack, attributed to Chinese state-sponsored hackers, underscores the broader risks posed by cyber adversaries.

While this incident does not directly involve companies like TikTok, TP-Link, or Lenovo, concerns have been raised in some quarters about the potential for misuse of technologies associated with foreign governments. Allegations of ties to the Chinese government have heightened scrutiny of these and other brands, sparking debates about the balance between cost, convenience, and security. Though unproven in court, fears persist that certain technologies could, intentionally or unintentionally, introduce vulnerabilities. This uncertainty leads many to ask: why take risks when secure alternatives are available?

TP-Link: A Case Study in Emerging Concerns

TP-Link, a major Chinese manufacturer of networking equipment, has attracted attention due to its significant market share in the U.S., especially in the small office/home office (SOHO) router market. Reports suggest that its competitive pricing strategy, along with alleged inadequate responses to certain security vulnerabilities, has raised alarms within cybersecurity circles.

The U.S. government is reportedly investigating potential risks associated with TP-Link devices, including their use in networks tied to government agencies, ISPs, and businesses. While no concrete evidence has been publicly disclosed linking TP-Link to state-sponsored activities, concerns have been voiced about the implications of using devices that may be susceptible to exploitation by cyber adversaries.

The Broader Implications for Other Technology Brands

TP-Link is not the only technology company facing heightened scrutiny. Lenovo, a multinational company originally founded in China and now publicly traded, has also been at the center of security discussions. In the past, concerns were raised about vulnerabilities in pre-installed software and the supply chain risks associated with its hardware. Lenovo has since taken measures to address these issues and maintains that its operations adhere to international standards. However, the scrutiny serves as a reminder of the critical importance of assessing all potential risks when selecting technology partners.

Choosing Trusted Partners: A Smarter, Safer Path

For businesses looking to mitigate risk, trusted North American companies such as Dell, HP, SonicWall, and Ubiquiti offer reliable alternatives. While no one is perfect, these manufacturers have a proven track record of meeting rigorous security standards and ensuring transparency and accountability in their supply chains. By choosing partners that prioritize compliance and security, organizations can significantly reduce their exposure to potential threats.

The Takeaway for IT Decision-Makers

The temptation of lower-cost technology solutions can sometimes obscure the hidden risks they may carry. However, the potential costs of a security breach—both financial and reputational—far outweigh any short-term savings. IT decision-makers must view each hardware purchase as a cybersecurity decision and prioritize vendors with a commitment to security and compliance.

In today’s rapidly evolving threat landscape, the choice of technology vendor isn’t just a business decision—it’s a security imperative. By partnering with trusted providers, businesses can safeguard their operations against emerging threats and build a foundation for long-term success.

• Universal Studios: From thrilling rides from The Transformers and Harry Potter to The Fast and Furious franchises, and iconic movie sets, our team let loose and embraced their inner kids.

• Disneyland's Galaxy’s Edge: Immersed in the Star Wars universe, we built lightsabers, piloted the Millennium Falcon, and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of Batuu.

• Kennedy Space Center: We explored NASA's rich history, learned hands-on about the latest advancements in space exploration, and left inspired by humanity’s potential to reach for the stars.

Bringing It All Back Home

What makes IT Nation truly impactful is what happens after the event. Our team returned energized, with a wealth of knowledge, insights, and new strategies to implement. Here’s how this benefits our clients:

• Enhanced Service Offerings: With access to the latest tools and innovations, we can provide even more robust, efficient, and secure IT solutions.
