Rideau Power Co. will be at The Home Show September 19th & 20th in Smiths Falls, sharing a booth with Advanced Alarm Systems.

I’ll have a variety of equipment there including BLUETTI portable power stations, LiTime lithium batteries, solar equipment and one of our pre-built inverter systems.

We’ll also be putting the equipment to work — the Advanced Alarm Systems security camera display will be powered by our BLUETTI units throughout the show.

Before and after from Sunday’s off-grid service job.

This client contacted me because he was running out of power about 20–30 minutes after sunset every day. What I found was an aging solar and battery system with multiple charge controllers, roughly 8 batteries, and wiring that had accumulated over the years without much thought toward safety.

The goal here wasn’t to tear everything out and sell him the most expensive system possible. It was to identify what was actually causing the problems, correct the important issues, and get him reliable power while staying within his budget.

The old battery system and wiring were bypassed, the important cabling was replaced, and the existing solar panel structure was reused with some modifications to improve the panel angle and solar production. The existing panel structure may look rustic, but it was still solid and serviceable. Reusing and modifying it allowed the client’s budget to go toward the parts of the system that actually needed attention.

The result: reliable power, a much cleaner system, and a very happy client who can now watch the Toronto Maple Leafs without firing up the generator and burning through fuel every night.

Sometimes the right solution isn’t replacing everything — it’s figuring out what actually needs fixing.

Before and After. One of this week’s projects wrapped up. Still some wires to replace due to corrosion but everything is back up and running for the long weekend and a lot cleaner!

What do you think of the charger mounting spot? When the front wall is too thin and the other side is a livewell… you look up.

Well that was not 30 or even 45 seconds hahaha.

Thank you everyone for the support so far!These first three months have felt way longer but have been great and filled with new opportunities, memories and people.

A lot of support and feedback from so many people that have helped this become a reality. More progress is coming and most of it I didn’t think was possible this early on. The business has a lot of growing to do but has had a solid start thanks to you guys!

I am hearing some rumours of a possible bad storm the afternoon/evening with lots of rain in our area. Putting this out there to hopefully help someone with their sump in case power goes out.

I currently have this Bluetti premium 100v2 which is more than enough to standard sump pumps. Expect 5+hours with a 1/3hp pump cycling 15 minutes per hour. This unit is $819 +taxes. I have a few other smaller units available as well great for internet backup or other electronics.

Don’t hesitate to reach out with questions for this model or others.
