Johnny Marr: The Smiths, The The, Modest Mouse, the No Time to Die soundtrack. Yeah, busy guy. A real studio rat.

Tomorrow, September 17, he’s auctioning off his entire guitar collection 🤯 Probably why the Dutch just moved their gold reserves from New York to London. 😂

Noel Gallagher gives a great tour of the collection on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svLry5u404o

So how soon is now? But word to the wise, like the lads say: never buy a guitar on an empty stomach.

Two for the weekend, bc quite frankly, I’m sick of posting about musicians who’ve passed. (Cassandra Wilson 💔😩💔)

Sessa / Pequena Vertigem de Amor
Neo bossa/Brazilian soul to linger in the last glow of summer, before autumn settles in for real.

Jalen Ngonda / Come Around and Love Me
This one’s been in heavy rotation. 70s soul à la Mayfield, Gaye, Franklin and a young Michael. The orchestration is gorgeous and it sounds authentic, not pastichey. One to put on with your significant other. I can’t get enough of it.

What’s on your turntable this weekend?

Bye bye Dolly. Thanks for all the music.
I have a confession to make: the first record I bought with my own money (well, my allowance) was K-Tel's Disco Eclipse. The first 45 was Dolly's 9 to 5.
She's always been around. Weird that she's gone so suddenly. Life is long until it isn't.

“It completely seduced me.” —Old Guy Hifi on the Billie MK3.
Tube warmth, Class D grip, and a look that earns its spot ON the credenza, not IN it.

Thank you Henry! Cannot wait to hear this, though I doubt it will be audiophile-grade😂 -but then again, it's kind of the point.

Hear that?
Deezer just launched an AI music detector that works across other streaming services.
Since competitors haven’t adopted Deezer’s tech, they’re offering it directly to listeners.
On Deezer’s AI music detector site, you can scan playlists for AI music across 20 platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and YouTube Music.
F@CK AI in music.
For elevator music? Fine. But REAL music? Why? There’s still so much fantastic music out there to uncover. We’re always catching up, chasing what we missed, searching for the next thrill. It’s not like we’re running out of music.
Truly, NOBODY asked for this.

...I know what I’m listening to today.
Farewell to the man under the bridge, legendary jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins.

Last night in Malta —the waiter handed me this postcard before my meal. “All For Music”. Felt like the universe winking at me, like the sirens calling me home, back to Heaven 11. Grateful to be doing what I’m doing —and for the people I’m doing it for.

Doug Schroeder returns, this time reviewing the MK3. But this is not your usual Billie Mk3 review. This one goes beyond the standard setup, with two Billie amps used together in a “Faux Mono” horizontally bi-amped system 😯
A serious test of how far Billie can scale, or how much anti-WAF your significant other can take! 😂
