Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in a training session with CSA Group focused on artificial intelligence and AI management.
One question stayed at the centre of our discussions:
How can SMEs adopt AI in a way that creates real business value while managing the human, operational and governance risks?
The conversation went well beyond technology.
We discussed business processes, employee adoption, organizational culture, data, accountability, governance and the importance of maintaining human expertise as AI becomes more integrated into the way organizations operate.
One of my biggest takeaways was simple:
AI transformation is not primarily a technology project. It is a business transformation enabled by technology.
For SMEs, that means starting with the business problem—not the AI tool.
Before asking “Where can we use AI?”, perhaps the better question is:
“Where can we improve the way the business works, and can AI help us do it?”
Thank you to CSA Group and everyone involved in the discussions for a very insightful session.
