Southeast Asia is likely to enjoy a strong recovery thanks to robust consumption, services, and exports. In Vietnam, which is benefitting from its growing importance in global supply chains, we expect 7% growth this year. The Philippines is forecast to see a 6.5% expansion this year, while growth will top 5% in Indonesia and Malaysia. In Australia, growth will slow in 2023 as tighter macro policies work to rein in inflation.

And India’s economy is expected to expand by 6.8 percent in 2022, revised down by 1.4 percentage points since the April World Economic Outlook because of a weaker-than-expected recovery in the second quarter. Despite an expected slowdown of India’s growth to 6.1 percent in 2023, growth remains strong and next year’s forecasts are among the highest of all Asian economies.
