A wire turns a compass. Nothing touches it. How? 🧭⚡

One compass gives us a clue. A circle of compasses reveals the pattern. Then we reverse the current—and you get to predict what happens next.

That “wait… I get it!” moment is what learning should feel like.

Save this video, try the right-hand rule as you watch, and share it with a student learning electromagnetism. The circles show magnetic-field direction; they are not particles orbiting the wire. This demonstration shows an idealized long, straight wire whose field dominates Earth’s field.

One circle. One wave. One “OH… NOW I GET IT!” moment. 💡

Watch trig become an idea you can actually see.

As a point travels around the unit circle, its height traces a sine wave. Freeze it at 30 degrees and a right triangle appears, with a height of one half.

That’s the picture behind sine of 30 degrees.

A formula starts to make sense when you can see what it means — and that little lightbulb moment can change how a student approaches the next question.

Ontario parents: does your child know the formulas but still get stuck using them? Does homework take hours? Do word problems or an upcoming test leave them unsure where to start?

At MATH101, we start with those questions. We draw the idea, connect the steps, work through mistakes, and practise together. Our shared whiteboard lets us see the thinking and build a solution one clear step at a time.

Hi, I’m Kamran. I offer patient, online 1:1 math help for Grades 3–12. Whether your child is catching up, preparing for a test, or working on a topic that hasn’t clicked yet, we can start with where they are.

Three notebooks cost the same amount each. Add one $2 pen and the total is $14. What does one notebook cost?

Let n be the price of one notebook. Then 3n + 2 = 14. Subtract 2: 3n = 12. Divide by 3: n = 4.

Each notebook costs $4. Check: $4 + $4 + $4 + $2 = $14.

Two points: (1, 2) and (3, 6). What is the slope?

Change in y: 6 − 2 = 4. Change in x: 3 − 1 = 2. Slope = 4/2 = 2.

The y-value rises by 2 for each 1-unit increase in x along this line. Keep the order of the points consistent in the numerator and denominator.

For algebra homework, try asking “Why is that step allowed?”

For example, in x + 7 = 12, subtracting 7 from both sides keeps the equation balanced. It gives x = 5.

If your child cannot explain a step yet, work through a simpler example together. Understanding the reason is a useful goal alongside getting the answer.
