*** IMPORTANT PSA ***

I'm concerned that my friends are getting SCAMMED, so I created this post to bring attention to the SCAM.

Now I use the tag for legitimate reasons, to "Highlight" some of my posts. Please read on to find out how it is being used to "SCAM" people.

Many Facebook contests are SCAMS. They declare they are giving away a large ticket item and all you have to do is share and use the tag. Then it sends it out to all your contacts. More people are alerted to the giveaway and they enter/share/

So why would they SCAM you? They can gather your contact info, sell it, create a page with a large following and then SELL IT TO OTHER SCAMMERS who can CONTINUE TO SCAM, SPREAD MALWARE or HACK!

Some contests are legit so how can you tell the difference?

1. Go to the company page, scroll through their posts. A SCAMMER has a few posts and all their posts are the giveaway, not much else. This is a DEAD GIVE AWAY. ( Pardon the pun, lol), that they are a SCAMMING/Phishing page.

2. Go to the “About” section.
Does it have company address and phone number, website, company history? No? Big surprise, because they are a SCAM. If you were going to give away a big ticket prize, advertisers will want you to know who generously is providing this item. They will provide you with this info because contests are a form of advertising.

For instance RV World that you have probably seen lately, or have already fell victim to (Not going to link it because that is what they want, TRAFFIC!) , is a SCAM! Look at the page through the lens of this information.
- Only two posts- Both about the contest.
- Go to “About” section and no real contact info.
Hmmmmm, what do you think?
If you said SCAMMER, you are correct.

So please be careful what you spread and invite your friends to spread. It only takes a few minutes to check. And Please feel free to share THIS POST as it is LEGIT, and hopefully it will help increase awareness of this type of SCAM. Or until they start to use the tag as well.

Plus as my granddaddy used to say, “ if something seems too good to be true, it probably isn’t.”.

*** IMPORTANT PSA ***

I had an an email from a client today, so I thought I would pass this on as it seems like a definite case of “Email Address Spoofing” Have a look at attached picture! Real names and emails have been changed to protect privacy.

Long story short, looks like the shaw.ca email address may be compromised. You may want to get shaw to check it… But it is more likely a case of email “Spoofing” your address. Or one of your devices that uses that email is compromised… When I checked into the coding on the first message it has the “Reply-To: “[email protected]” which is wrong…

So watch if you get an email from someone you know requesting money, gift cards sent to an email address, etc…

If any of you are experiencing email issues today (Either Sending or receiving) here may be the reason as this DID effect my receiving email (And several clients mail servers as well).…

Countless emails wrongly blocked as spam after Cisco's SpamCop failed to renew domain name on the weekend;

In brief Cisco's anti-spam service SpamCop failed to renew spamcop.net over weekend, causing it to lapse, which resulted in countless messages being falsely labeled and rejected as spam around the world.

From what we can tell, this is what happened. When the domain name expired, *.spamcop.net resolved to a domain parking service's IP address. The way that SpamCop's DNS-based blocking list works is that if you, for example, want to check that an email sent from a system with the IP address 1.2.3.4 is legit, you run a DNS query on 4.3.2.1.bl.spamcop.net. If SpamCop returns a valid DNS entry for that lookup, then it's an IP address known to have sent out spam in the past and should be treated with suspicion.

Thus, after the domain name expired, every single *.bl.spamcop.net lookup would succeed, as it's pointing to a parking service, meaning every email received by a server checking SpamCop for known spammers would be flagged up as spam and rejected. As such, mail server administrators saw what looked like a deluge of spam.

The good news is that the spamcop.net domain name was renewed, and by the time you read this, the service may be back to normal, though given the distributed nature of DNS, your mileage may vary. The SpamCop website is, right now, giving us errors when we try to visit it or look up IP address.
