For years, my business was my “side thing.”

The creative outlet I worked on after hours, on weekends, and during maternity leave while building a corporate career.

And if I’m being honest, I think deep down I always knew I wanted more for myself.

I just didn’t fully believe I was allowed to go after it yet.

There’s a strange space between having the vision for your life and finally giving yourself permission to pursue it.
A space filled with overthinking, self-doubt, comparison, and wondering if you’re actually ready.

I know what it feels like to sit in that space for a long time.

Which is probably why I care so much about helping people build brands and websites that actually reflect who they are and where they’re going.

Because so many of my clients are in that exact season too.

- A therapist finally opening her own practice after years of working for someone else.
- A woman leaving the corporate world to build something more aligned.
- Someone who’s been sitting on a business idea for years and finally found the confidence to go for it.
- A founder who’s outgrown the DIY phase and is ready to be taken seriously.
- A business owner who knows they’ve evolved, but their brand no longer reflects who they are.

Yes, I design websites.
Yes, I create brands.

But more than anything, I help people translate who they are into something others can feel the moment they land on their site.

The strategy matters.
The SEO & AI search matters.
The visuals matter.

But people connect with businesses that feel human.
Businesses with personality, perspective, emotion, and intention behind them.

I never want my work to feel cold, overly corporate, or templated just for the sake of “looking professional.”

I want it to feel like you.
Elevated strategically, but still deeply personal.

Because the right design doesn’t just make your business look better.
It helps people trust you faster, connect deeper, and see the value of what you’ve built.

Didn’t expect “competitive pike fishing” to become part of my personality (or grid) in 2026, but here we are.

Proof I do, in fact, leave my computer sometimes. 🎣

Placed 2nd in a fishing tournament this month and now I finally understand why people hold fish up in photos like they just won the lottery.

Lately, I’ve been realizing how many people are building businesses while also carrying so much behind the scenes. Some people are starting businesses after burnout.

Some after maternity leave (like me!)
Some after losing a job.
Some while caregiving for family members.
Some while trying to rebuild confidence in themselves.
Some while balancing another full-time job because their business isn’t fully there yet.

And most of the time, you’d never know.

You just see the logo.
The Instagram post.
The website launch.
The polished version.

But as someone who gets to work closely with business owners every day, I’ve realized there’s almost always a much deeper story underneath what people are building.

That’s part of why I care so much about creating brands and websites that actually feel personal to the person behind them.

Not just trendy.
Not just optimized.
Not just generated as quickly as possible.

There’s so much noise online right now.

But I still think people connect most deeply with businesses that feel human.
Businesses with personality, perspective, emotion, and intention behind them.

And honestly, those are my kind of people to work with.

One thing I’ve learned from working with so many women business owners:

Almost nobody feels “ready.”

Most are building things while still doubting themselves a little.
While juggling everyday life.
While wondering if people will actually take them seriously.

Recently, a client had a huge realization while filling out her website questionnaire.

What started as “I need a website” turned into:
“Wait… what do I actually want this business to become?”

Not because she isn’t talented.
Not because she has nothing to offer.
But because building a business can feel vulnerable when you’re still figuring things out as you go.

And honestly? I think more people are in that stage than we realize.

So many women are quietly trying to create something meaningful while questioning themselves the entire time.

Then slowly… ideas evolve.
Confidence grows.
Things start clicking into place.

Sometimes the branding process becomes bigger than colours, logos, or websites.

Sometimes it becomes the thing that helps someone finally see what they’re capable of building ✨

One thing I never expected when starting my business was how human online work would actually feel.

I’ve had Zoom calls with people sitting in their cars between appointments.

Clients joining five minutes late because Zoom updated at the worst possible time.

Dogs barking during strategy calls.

Kids and partners popping into meetings to say hi.

Babies doing their first rollover in the middle of a discovery call (yes this actually happened)

I’ve also had complete strangers open up to me about the businesses they dream of building, the career paths they walked away from, the risks they’re taking, and the determination it took to even get to this point.

And honestly… those moments have become some of my favourite parts of this work.

Because behind every business is a real person building something meaningful while also living a real life at the same time.

Some conversations start about websites or logos and somehow turn into dreams, career pivots, motherhood, burnout, confidence, big ideas, and the life someone is trying to create for themselves.

And that’s something you can’t really replace with AI.

AI can help generate ideas, speed things up, and support the process in incredible ways.
But it can’t build genuine connection.
It can’t understand the emotion behind someone’s story or the deeper why behind what they’re building.

That human side of business still matters.
And honestly, I think it always will.

The internet can make business feel transactional sometimes, but moments like these remind me there are real people behind the screens.

So if you’re looking for a designer who sees the person behind the business, I’m just a Zoom call away.

✨ She’s live!!

Okay I have to share this one because honestly, this project had my whole heart from day one.

Kimberly came to me with a vision for a luxury small group travel company for women. The kind of trips where everything is taken care of, the hotels are beautiful, the group is small, and you actually come home feeling rested instead of exhausted.

And the story behind why she started it? She was sitting alone at a stunning restaurant overlooking the ocean and looked around and noticed other women doing the same thing. Just, alone. In paradise. And she thought, there has to be a better way.

So she built it.

The Well Travelled is now live with three trips; Ottawa, Hawai’i, and Texas... all limited to 14 women. If you or someone you know has been putting off that dream trip because they don’t have anyone to go with, this is literally made for you.

P.S. I usually design in WordPress but this one called for Squarespace, and honestly? I might be a little obsessed with how it turned out.

Go check it out thewelltravelled.ca

So proud of you Kimberly .ca 💗🌿

What people don’t realize about websites is how quickly someone decides.

It’s not 10 minutes.
It’s not even 1 minute.

It’s seconds.

They’re scanning.
Looking for themselves in what you’re saying.

And if they don’t feel seen right away, they move on.

Not because you’re not good at what you do,
but because your website didn’t make it obvious enough.

Clarity is what builds trust.

Not more words.
Not more pages.

Just the right message, in the right place, at the right time.

That’s what turns a visit into an inquiry.

If your website only exists so you can say you have one… it’s not doing its job.

I see this all the time with DIY sites.

They look fine at a glance.

But:
– the messaging isn’t clear
– there’s no real flow
– nothing is guiding someone to take action

So what happens?

You keep selling in DMs.
You rely on Instagram.
And your website just… sits there.

Meanwhile, all of your best content,
your insights, your client results, your strongest messaging... is living on Instagram.

Which means you’re underselling yourself every time someone lands on your website.

At some point, that starts to cost you.

Not because your business isn’t good,
but because your website isn’t showing it.

That’s usually when people reach out to me.

When they’re ready for something that actually converts.

If your Instagram is doing all the heavy lifting while your website sits in the background collecting dust, you are not alone.

“I know my website needs work but I just haven’t gotten to it.”
“My Instagram is way better than my website.”
“I hesitate a little every time I send the link.”

A lot of people get most of their leads from Instagram. That’s great, it means your content is working.

But you don’t own Instagram. The algorithm changes, your reach drops, your account gets hacked. Your leads dry up.

Your website? That’s yours. With the right work behind it... local SEO, updated content, regular blogging, it becomes a lead source that works for you 24 hours a day without posting a single thing.

01. Pull your best content onto your website
That testimonial that had people sliding into your DMs? That before and after saved 47 times? Put it on your website. Your site should reflect your best work, not your oldest.

02. Update your homepage so it sounds like you
If your Instagram bio is more compelling than your homepage headline, something is off.

03. Turn your best posts into blog articles
That post that got 200 saves? Expand it into a blog post with local SEO built in. You’ve already done the thinking, now put it somewhere Google can find it.

04. Make sure your personality comes through
If a new follower landed on your website right now, would they feel like they were in the same place? If not, that’s the gap worth closing.

Your Instagram brought them in. Your website should be able to do the same.

Link in bio.

POV: you hired a website designer who’s a little too invested

Hundreds of neatly organized folders of client headshots and brand photos
…if you opened my laptop without context, you might have a few questions 😅

She notices the gaps in your messaging right away

She’s thinking about your homepage while brushing her teeth

And sometimes…

She’s lying in bed and suddenly thinks:
“wait… her CTA would convert way better above the fold”

Not creepy… just deeply invested in your success 🤍

Hi, I’m Brittany.

I’m the one you contact when your website is giving you anxiety.

You know that feeling when someone asks for your website and you hesitate before sending the link?

Or when you’re Googling “what is an MX record” at 10pm because your emails aren’t working?

Or when your website layout looks fine on your laptop but completely broken on your phone and you have no idea why?

Or when you know your business has grown but your website still looks like it did three years ago and you just haven’t had the time or the person to fix it?

Yeah. I get it.

I built The Cultivators during my maternity leave with a baby on my hip and a vision for something better. Not just for me, for every woman running a business who deserved a website that actually reflected how good she was at what she did.

I’m a one-woman show. Which means I’m the one who answers your emails, builds your pages, sweats the details, and stays up thinking about your homepage. There’s no team. No handoffs. Just me, genuinely invested in your business like it’s my own.

I work with coaches, therapists, wellness practitioners, consultants, and service-based business owners who are done with the gap between how good they actually are and how their website makes them look.

If you’ve been putting off doing something about your website because you don’t know where to start, or you’re not sure it’s worth it, or you just haven’t found someone you actually trust yet... hi. I think we should talk.
