After 45 stories, we’ve learned something important.
Local business owners aren’t short on stories.
They’re full of them.
The late nights. The first customer. The recipe from home. The unexpected turning point. The person who believed in them. The reason they kept going.
But having a story and knowing how to tell a story are two different things.
Storytelling takes craft. It takes knowing what to leave out, what to bring forward, where the emotion lives, and how to make someone who wasn’t there feel something.
Not everyone is a writer. And they shouldn’t have to be.
That’s one of the ideas behind what we’ve been building at Rooted Tale.
A way for local businesses to bring their raw thoughts, experiences and memories—and turn them into stories people actually want to read.
We’re testing our self-serve storytelling system privately right now, with our sights set on bringing it to businesses across Nova Scotia.
Because supporting local shouldn’t only be about buying local. It can also be about knowing the people you’re supporting.
