Good civic reporting should show both what the evidence supports and where it stops.

The August 27 CK Signals brief separates official ward-funding records, published reporting, a candidate’s explanation and the absence of any posted misconduct finding. Those are different claims and are labelled separately.

Today, CK Signals published a new bilingual editorial commentary for the 2026 Chatham-Kent municipal election:

“CK’s candidates know the problems. Now they must show their work.”

The commentary proposes a consistent test for municipal commitments:

Baseline → municipal authority → specific action → funding source → accountable owner → deadline → measurable outcome

We applied that accountability lens across several issue desks, including:

- Taxes and municipal spending
- Homelessness, addiction and public safety
- Roads, bridges, water and infrastructure
- Housing affordability and supply
- Economic development and jobs
- Governance and strong-mayor powers
- Digital government, AI, privacy and cybersecurity

The update also includes the Municipality’s current certified-candidate count: seven mayoral candidates and 79 council candidates. The complete EL07 document expected August 27 will be the next line-by-line verification checkpoint.

Our purpose is not to replace the Municipality’s official election information or tell residents how to vote. CK Signals is live — a new source-linked civic information site for Chatham-Kent’s 2026 municipal election.

Created by IntelliSync, CK Signals brings together:

• The official registered-candidate list, organized by ward
• Public candidate contact information and campaign links
• Important voter dates and official election resources
• Source-linked issue coverage
• Clearly labelled public record, candidate statements and analysis
• An equal opportunity for every registered candidate to verify information, provide corrections and participate

Our purpose is to make local election information easier to find, encourage informed participation and build a trustworthy public record—without candidate endorsements, rankings, voting-intention polling or predictions.

As of August 23, the municipal registry lists seven registered mayoral candidates and 79 registered council candidates across eight wards. The municipal page still presents these as registrations and does not yet identify the list as a certified ballot.
