‘There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.’

This thought-provoking quote set the stage for our recent Essential Skills Workshop with guest speaker Anthony Sanni, who shared actionable insights for optimizing productivity.

He shared the Pareto Principle, which shows that 80% of results often come from just 20% of our efforts. It is important to identify your “vital few” actions, which are tasks that truly align with your goals and create the most value.

He also introduced the TVF (The Vital Few) matrix, a practical tool to categorize tasks by effort and value. For example, prioritizing low-effort, high-value activities can free up time and energy for high-impact work.

How do you tell your story as a job seeker so it stands out and connects with employers?

At our recent PathwayPro workshop, our founder Wunmi Adekanmbi led a session on crafting your story. One of the approaches discussed was the StoryBrand approach. Instead of positioning yourself as the hero, think of yourself as the guide.

Here’s how you can tell your story: The employer is the “character” with a problem, and you’re the guide with the skills to help solve it.

By framing your story this way, you show them exactly how you bring value and can support their goals. It’s about understanding their needs and showing up with solutions.

Ready to craft your story? Start by asking yourself: What unique skills do I bring that can guide an employer to success? How can I show that I’m the answer to their challenges?
