I am a mom, wife, artpreneur, artist, designer and unshakable optimist. I grew up in Mexico City, now I live in Calgary, AB, Canada; I rediscovered my passion for art. With over 20 years of graphic design experience, I decided to step back from that world and fully pursue art. I started painting again in 2017 and couldn’t stop. 2019 was the year I went all in. I have taken many workshops on waterc
olour and acrylics and I’ve figured out many things by asking the community; this has helped me to better understand how the art world works. I love painting with vibrant and bold colours and always with a positive message. My graphic design background allows me to take any project from idea to completion. Watercolours, acrylics and mixed media are some of my favourite mediums to paint with; I love painting loose florals, animals and people portraits. My work is all about empowerment, joy, freedom and happiness. You can see my art outside around town and in local exhibitions. I run my studio from home and have been teaching watercolours for the past four years. I use creativity as my wellness practice. I create because it’s aligned with who I am and am becoming; this helps me make a positive connection with others and shows them what’s possible when you allow yourself to create and be creative. We live in a fast-paced world where we forget to stop and absorb the beauty that surrounds us. Technology has helped me bring that pace into more balance by sharing my work easily with others. The subjects I paint include flowers, animals and women. I paint flowers and animals because they directly impact happiness. They have a long-term positive effect on our mood and give us a higher sense of life satisfaction. I paint women to empower those who have forgotten how beautiful and inspiring they are, reminding them they can contribute to a positive change in our society. Bright, bold colour grabs people’s attention. It gets me to think differently about how I will communicate and express my thoughts and feelings. That practice of expressing my positivism and optimism reduces my stress. It’s my way of making sense of the world around me.
