If you're a restaurant owner with slower than normal foot traffic, you're likely doing everything you can to keep seats filled.

But more ads, discounts, and promotions only build transactions.
They don't build legacy.

When traffic is slow, you have an advantage busy restaurants don't:

Time.

Use it the right way, and you won't just fill tables.
You'll build the kind of brand that thrives in the slow seasons AND the busy ones.

Too many founders waste these seasons chasing volume.
The smart ones use it to build credibility and compound growth.

Comment "LEGACY" and I'll send you the exact audit I use to help restaurants scale.

Most Food & Beverage founders don’t have a motivation problem...

They have a clarity problem.

When your brand isn’t clearly defined, every decision you make feels harder than it should.

Brand strategy fixes that.

And I offer it completely risk-free.

If you don’t walk away with clarity, confidence, and alignment, you get you're investment back.

BRAND STRATEGY, EXPOSED

If you’ve heard the term brand strategy before, there’s a good chance it felt vague, overused, or hard to pin down.

As more designers move into the freelance space, the phrase has started showing up everywhere... often without much explanation. At this point, it’s bordering on buzzword status.

But real brand strategy isn’t a trend. And it it's not fluff, either.

It’s everything that happens before design does.

It's all the thinking that defines who your brand is for, how it should be positioned, and why someone should choose it over everything else on the shelf, or down the street.

It's where the vision gets clarified.
Where values get defined.
Where messaging aligns.
.. and where decisions stop being made on gut feeling alone.

Without strategy, even the best ideas struggle to scale.

Design becomes guesswork.
Marketing gets LOUDER instead of clearer.
And growth becomes expensive.

That’s why for CPG brands and restaurants in particular, brand strategy isn’t optional: it’s foundational. It’s what turns a good product into a brand people recognize, remember, and return to.

If you’re curious what this looks like for your own business, I offer brand strategy risk-free. Book a call at brand.krentzcreative.co

BAD EXCUSES #1: "Now's Not The Right Time To Rebrand"

I hear this all the time. And I get it.

You’re busy packing orders, updating menus, opening new locations.
Rebranding feels like something you save for later.

Here’s the truth...

There’s no perfect moment when your business slows down and says:
“Okay, now we’re ready.”

Growth doesn’t make branding easier. It just makes the cracks more obvious.

If your brand isn’t clear now, it only gets messier as you scale.
Inconsistencies multiply across packaging, promotions, and touchpoints.
Fixing them later costs more.

The right time to rebrand? It’s the moment you first realized you needed to.

SNEEEEK PEEK of my first new brand of 2026: An Alberta-based Latin-American restaurant that's poised for growth and ready to scale.

Here's a breakdown of my filtration process, after working with the client to curate their visual preferences, and the overall personality of the brand ...

Look 1 is all Alberta: An unapologetically western look that blend sophistication with plenty of grit, for an identity that's equal parts rugged and restrained.

Look 2 looks south, with a premium aesthetic that's handcrafted, and rooted in Latin-American culture and iconography.

Look 3 takes the best of both worlds, drawing on the rugged textures and harsh tones of the badlands, for a grounded southwestern aesthetic, rooted in character.

As someone who loves Latin-American food AND Alberta, I couldn't be more stoked to help make this brand a reality.

Stay tuned to see how it develops! 🐴🐄

Finally getting around to sharing these labels I made for last year. The first design we made was for their flagship brew, the Osmotar Sahti.

As one of Calgary's newer breweries, the main focus for these designs was brand awareness. To achieve this, the brewery's logomark was burned into the background of each label in a visible way, without detracting from the visibility of each beer's name.

And while the colors used on each label are drastically different, the complimentary nature of each scheme and consistency between elements solidifies the connection to the brand.

With so many (incredible!) cans floating around these days, it was refreshing to create a label for a nice, amber bottle for once. It feels tactile, handcrafted, and intentional, just like the spirit behind the beer itself.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER

In 2025, after nearly a year of freelance famine, I pivoted my business entirely, and experienced the best year of my career.

✦ I completed more projects than ever before
✦ I worked with more clients than ever before (2/3 of them were new!)
✦ I created some of my best work to date
✦ And met more amazing people than I thought was possible

Last year, I spoked candidly about the struggles I was facing...

This year, I can proudly say those same struggles produced the fruit that got me to where I am right now.

Is it where I always wanted to be?

No, not by a long shot. If I'm being honest, I feel behind when compared to my senior designer peers.

There are a lot of reasons for this, but the main one is the fact that I mistook comfort for risk early-on. But I'm recovering, and I'd like to think I'm recovering rapidly. At this rate, it's only a matter of time before I catch up.

There's so much more work to do... On the brand. On the business. On my design skills.

After 10 years of doing this, with all the ups and downs, a sane person would've probably bowed out by now...

But I'm more excited for the next 10 than I was for the first.

2026, bring it on. It's going to be a good year.

This year's collection of wrapped (and scrapped) logos, marks and illustrations.

What a contrast this was to 2024, when I barely even had one to share.

Many of these little beauties have yet to be revealed, but I'm proud to have worked on every single one of them.

The real thanks goes to all the incredible clients I've worked with this past year: All the crazy people who were willing to take a chance on this little one-man design studio, and believed in what we could do together.

Here's to more of the same great things in 2026 🎉
