Google's AI Mode now shows a hotel's rate, room type, and cancellation terms inside the answer, right beside a competitor's. Kendel's takeaway for operators is about the data behind that answer.

If the rate is stale, the room types are wrong, or the cancellation policy on one listing says something different from the website, that is what the traveller sees. The AI is only reading what you gave it.

Kendel walks through what she found testing AI Mode on the new episode:

The teams adopting agentic AI fastest are in operations, marketing, and HR.

Peter points to a study on how OpenAI's Codex is being used: the biggest growth is outside IT, and the IT department is often the slowest.

His take is that the building blocks are in front of everyone now: memory, context, good prompting, and orchestration. The work has moved from learning to doing.

Kate Colley has spent thirty years in hospitality across the Four Seasons Hotels in Vancouver and Whistler, and most recently running Hatch Hospitality with her husband, a chef and culinary consultant.

She uses AI every day, but she is also clear about where it does not belong.

Kate tells Peter what AI has taken off her plate, what she would never hand it, and why the more she uses it the more she needs to put it down and read a real book. She has also joined Tourism AI Network's Expert Advisory Network, and the two talk about what they plan to do together.

A year ago the request was "teach me." Now it is "build it."

Peter and Kendel compare what they heard from tourism organizations a year ago with what they hear now. The baseline moved. People have tried the tools, they know the work could be better, and they want someone to come in and build the thing.

Five minutes and one question.

Kendel's advice for anyone who feels behind on AI: ask Claude to look at the work you do and suggest a skill that would help. That is the whole first step.

She says the slowdown this summer gave her time to catch up, and the catching up took less time than she expected.

AI burnout is real. Peter says so on the first episode of Season 4, and he is talking about himself.

His advice for anyone running a tourism business or a DMO while trying to keep up with AI: get to it when you can, at the pace you can. As he puts it, AI is going to be part of the work for the foreseeable future, so this is a marathon.

"Can you just build me the things I need?"

Peter says that is what the requests to TAIN sound like now. The first wave was people wanting to learn. This summer it turned into people wanting things built.

He shares one client's words in this clip: the training was great, but they are running a business and don't have time.

Three things a traveller can now do inside Google AI Mode, from Kendel's test run on the new episode.

Track flight prices and get emailed when they drop. See fares in points or miles. Book a hotel without leaving the answer, through the big OTAs and the major chains.

For a smaller property, Kendel found AI Mode pulled in the Google Business Profile and linked straight to the hotel's own website. The traveller sees your rate, your room types, and your cancellation terms, so those need to be right.
