•This law should be revised again for non-operating companies

A group of concerned citizens, are petitioning for Government of Botswana through companies and intellectual Property Authority (C**A) to amend the companie’s law so non operating companies be can exempted from filling P500 annual return.

The move, if successful, would exclude a non operating companies from pay P500 when filling for annual returns.

Many company owners have taken to social media to express dissatisfaction on what they say is daylight robbery.

“If not operational where do we get the funds and if we fail to pay P500 annual returns ,there is a penalty thereafter .. govt you are against progress of citizens.That doesn't make sense at all.” said prov keagakwa

Thuso Tlhase is of view that “C**A please note that this is a robbery to keep charging people when they are not yet operating. If you did your mandate properly you could be helping fight the high unemployment rate but instead you are doing the opposite.”

According to C**A rules and regulations, all registered companies must file P500 annual returns, including those that are not yet operating failure to file before deadline will result in ‘your company being removed from register and you will be charged over P2500.00 as a restoration fee.

Some revealed they will be removing their companies from the register, because they can pay absurd charges while the business is not operational.

This C**A law for payment of P500 annual fees for non-operational companies must be amended.we need the law revised for non operating companies, also the P2500 fee for restoration is too much.
