The EARL Research Network proudly acknowledges their collaborative research work titled,
"Performance Analysis of Tesseract and EasyOCR for Bangla Optical Character Recognition on the Novel Bangla CrossHair Dataset,"
published under the IEEE at the 2025 3rd International Conference.
This study presents a comprehensive comparative analysis of OCR engines PyTesseract and EasyOCR, benchmarked on the newly created Bangla-CrossHair dataset, which encompasses diverse types of Bangla text images. The research highlights EasyOCR’s superior performance in several scenarios, while PyTesseract demonstrates faster processing capabilities.

The first official meeting held on the 4th of November 2024, 10:00 PM BD Standard Time (GMT + 6:00) between the Department of EEE at Leading University in Sylhet, and the EARL Research Network was a tremendous success. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Samya Pal Summit who is currently completing his Masters in IT at Jahangirnagar University. He has been a highly dedicated Graduate Research Assistant at the GMC Artificial Intelligence Lab, part of the EARL Research Network. Congratulations to Abdulla Nasir Chowdhury, Shah Masud Parvej Mamun, Shakib Absar, Fuad Rahman, and Aftar Ahmed Sami for the submission of their manuscript performing a comparative study on OCR Engines to the longest running IEEE Xplore Conference, ICCIT 2024.

International Conference on Computer and Information Technology (ICCIT) actually started its journey in the year 1998. ICCIT has evolved from the National Conference on Computer and Information Systems (NCClS) which was held in 1997 at the Dhaka University, Bangladesh. Since 1998, the conference is being organized every year by different public and private universities. This is the longest running IEEE sponsored peer-reviewed conference in Bangladesh.

The 27th ICCIT 2024 will be held during 20-22 December at Long Beach Hotel, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh organized by the IEEE Bangladesh Section.
