This little juvenile female was spotted by Jill on the beach this morning . We whisked her away before she could get dog or cat mauled.
She has malnutrition and is weak . Hopefully she can pick up her health over the next hours under the wonderful care of our local sea bird carer in white beach.

Hoping for another successful rescue and release if she can hold on.

Request :
Do you have any salmon or mackerel in your freezer not being used & you could spare ?
The carer of the sea birds is always welcoming fish to feed her charges. DM me any details.
Just this penguin will need 300 grm per day and there are already two other sea birds in care on the ninch atm

Penguin Awareness Day! 📢🐧

This week we celebrated Penguin Awareness Day, a time to learn all about these iconic seabirds and learn what you can do to help them.

The Middle Island Project utilises Maremma guardian dogs to protect the Little Penguin colony at Middle Island, but there are many other colonies and species of penguins that deserve some recognition this Penguin Awareness Day!

To find out more about penguins, you can visit https://www.wwf.org.uk/learn/world-days/penguin-awareness-day, and to learn more about the Middle Island Project and how you can help the Middle Island penguins and Marremma dogs, you can visit https://www.warrnamboolpenguins.com.au/

Lucky Little Penguins Story

Living on the SW coast, I see first hand the effects of marine debris has on our coast. Wherever possible, I source plastic free or recycled materials. My coastal creature jewellery is attached by fishing rope found on local beaches.

Entanglement by fishing gear is the biggest killer of penguins, seals and whales.

Gifts that are given out of kindness for the person receiving them as well as the ocean benefits all. However, finding greener alternatives is not always easy.

I am the first to admit that there is still room for improvement. Finding suppliers that get what I do helps of course.
