Sharing isn’t always caring - privacy is everyone’s business.
🔒 As Australia wraps up , it’s a good reminder for clinics everywhere: when it comes to AI tools, privacy isn’t a feature - it’s a responsibility.
We've put together a quick checklist to help you cut through the hype and choose AI tools that actually protect patient data:
✅ 1. Tools should only access what’s essential
AI tools should only access the bare minimum - like a patient’s name or appointment time. Everything else should remain disconnected. Less access means less risk.
✅ 2. Demand encryption and local storage
All sensitive data must be encrypted in transit and at rest - and stored directly by the provider, not passed to third parties. Where possible, data should stay within your country to meet local privacy laws.
✅ 3. Check they have a breach response plan
If something goes wrong, your provider should have a clear plan: fast alerts, remediation steps, and full support. If they don’t, that’s your red flag.
✅ 4. Say no to data training
Choose tools that don’t train their models on your clinic’s data. There’s a difference between customisation and training - you can still get tailored experiences without compromising patient confidentiality.
⚠️ The truth? AI tools not purpose-built for healthcare often fall short.
Failure and non-compliance aren’t just possible — they’re inevitable.
📍 If you’re in Australia, visit oaic.gov.au for official Privacy guidance. Otherwise, check your local privacy regulator’s website for region-specific rules.
These are just a few of the checks your clinic should be making.
💜 Lyngo handles them all - in every region we operate - so you can focus on what matters most: patient care.
