A good installation starts long before the first cable gets pulled.

Sometimes the most important part of a job happens with a set of plans and a pen.

Before equipment goes up or cables start going in, there’s plenty to think about — where everything needs to go, how it will be connected, what the client actually needs and how the system will work once the job is finished.

A bit of planning upfront can make a big difference to the end result.

It can mean:

🔵 A tidy comms rack isn’t just about making it look good.

Here’s a before & after from a communications rack upgrade we completed for a client.

Over time, networks grow. Equipment gets added, cables get moved and what started out relatively simple can become pretty difficult to follow.

The problem is, when something eventually goes wrong, a messy communications setup can make troubleshooting and maintenance much harder than it needs to be.

Getting things organised properly can mean:

🔧 Easier troubleshooting when there’s a problem
⏱️ Less time spent tracing cables and equipment
🏷️ Clearer identification of network connections
📈 Easier upgrades and changes as the business grows

🟠 We’re not exactly trying to blend in… 😎

If you’ve seen the CablePro ute getting around Central Queensland, chances are you noticed it.

The bright orange and black signage, we are pretty hard to miss!

And that’s becoming one of our favourite things about it — whether we’re working around Rocky, heading down the highway or travelling out to a more remote job, the CablePro ute is becoming a pretty recognisable sight.

CablePro Networks is a family-owned communications business based right here in Rockhampton, backed by more than 15 years of industry experience.

Some days we're working around town.

Other days the job takes us a little further down the highway — or somewhere well off the beaten track.

No two days are quite the same, and that's one of the things we enjoy most about working across Central Queensland.

How do you get a network connection from one building to another — without digging a trench?

One solution is a wireless point-to-point link.

Put simply, these systems create a dedicated wireless connection between two locations, allowing you to extend your network where running a physical cable may not be practical.

They can be useful for connecting things like:

🏠 House → shed
🌾 Homestead → outbuildings
🏢 Office → workshop
🏭 Buildings across commercial or industrial sites

These photos are from a few recent projects Cablepro Networks have completed using wireless equipment to get network connection where our clients thought would never be possible.

The important part isn't just mounting an antenna, though. Things like distance, line of sight, equipment selection and positioning all need to be considered when designing the link.

When it's set up correctly, point-to-point wireless can be a very handy way of getting connectivity to places that would otherwise be difficult to reach.

Pretty clever piece of tech for something most people probably never notice.

A faster internet plan doesn’t always mean better Wi-Fi.

It’s something we come across pretty regularly.

You can have a great internet connection coming into your home or business and still have terrible Wi-Fi in certain areas.

Why?

Your Wi-Fi signal still has to travel through your property.

Things like:

🏠 The size and layout of the building
🧱 Walls and building materials
📍 Where your Wi-Fi equipment is located
📶 Distance from your Wi-Fi access point
📱 How many devices are connected

can all affect the result.

That’s why simply upgrading your internet plan—or plugging in another Wi-Fi extender—doesn’t necessarily fix the actual problem.

Often the better solution is looking at how the network is set up in the first place.

Our team spends a fair bit of time solving connectivity problems around Central Queensland, Sometimes the fix can be as simple as relocating your router into a more suitable location to give you the coverage where its needed.
