For a while, New Groove was trying to do a little bit of everything.

Not because those services didn’t make sense, but because we were still figuring out what connected them.

The shift happened when I stopped asking what else New Groove could offer and started asking what I actually wanted it to stand for.

The answer wasn’t another package. It was local businesses.

Helping the good ones get seen. Giving people more reasons to notice, visit and support the places around them.

That’s where the New Groove Map, Local Legends and the community side of the brand came from.

The services haven’t disappeared. They just finally have a clearer purpose behind them.

We’re still figuring parts of it out, but this made New Groove feel a lot more like New Groove.

A brand can have great individual designs and still feel disconnected.

With Limitless Nutrition, the focus was on creating a visual system that could hold everything together, from the core identity to the content people would see every day.

Once that foundation was in place, each post could look different without feeling like it belonged to a different brand.

That’s what consistency should do. Not make everything identical, but make everything feel unmistakably yours.

Swipe through to see how we brought it together.

If your brand feels different every time it shows up, let’s fix that.

Newcastle mornings tend to have their own little routines. A swim at Merewether, a slow wander along Darby Street, the usual lap around Honeysuckle… or something completely different.

What does your Newcastle morning look like before 9am?

Some projects begin with a formal enquiry. Others begin by spending enough time in a place to understand what makes it special — and noticing where the experience is no longer being translated clearly.

By the time I looked at La Bae’s menu, the business had grown beyond the structure it was working with. There were more items, more choice and more personality to communicate, but the layout was making customers work too hard to take it all in.

So I went back to the beginning. I reorganised the information, rebuilt the hierarchy and redesigned the menu around the way people actually read, choose and order.

The result was not simply a better-looking menu. It was a clearer expression of the business and a more considered part of the customer experience.

What is the first thing you notice when a menu has been designed well?

There are places you start recommending without even thinking about it.
The studio you trust enough to send a friend to. The shop you always take visitors into. The place that somehow becomes part of your week, your routine, your version of the neighbourhood.

That kind of connection usually starts quietly. No big launch. No “community strategy”. Just a business doing something well enough, consistently enough, that people want to come back and bring someone with them.

By the time everyone else starts calling it a destination, the locals already knew.
Those are the places we’re interested in.

What’s a local place you keep recommending to people without even thinking about it?

No pitch here, just five words explained properly.

Save this for the next time your social media person — or a client — uses one of them and you nod along without asking what it means.

The Chocolate Network already had the vision. The challenge was making the brand feel as real and considered as the idea behind it.

For Jerry, that meant bringing the look, the message and the direction together so the identity felt less like separate pieces and more like one recognisable brand.

As he put it:
"We had a vision, but it didn't feel like a real brand yet. New Groove brought everything together — the look, the message, the direction. Now it actually feels like something people can connect to, not just something we're posting."

That is the difference a considered identity can make. Not just a nicer logo, but a brand people can actually recognise, understand and connect with.

Does your current identity feel like the business you are building?

A note from us, not a client story this time.

This studio ran under one name for ten years, built entirely on word of mouth. Changing that name wasn't about a new logo — it was about the work finally being bigger than one person.

Still catch ourselves typing the old name sometimes. That's alright.
