Kids Art Club term 1 2026 starts 3rd & 4th of Feb!! ✏️

Enrol now for after school art classes for 6-12 year olds on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 3:30-5:00pm

Kids will learn about different artists, art periods, techniques and mediums. We will explore painting, printmaking, mixed media, collage and sculpture in a creative, fun and supportive environment 🥳✏️

Are the kids getting restless during the school holidays? This Wednesday 21st of January 10-12am I’m running a school holidays cartoon pet painting class!

✏️Kids will learn how to turn their pet or favourite animal into a vibrant cartoon acrylic painting on canvas

Home is where the Bananas are

This Saturday at .art.gallery from 5-8pm join us for a fabulous group exhibition where each artist has created from the prompt “home in time for dinner”

Below is my artist statement for this artwork if you want to know more about why I have made an artwork all about bananas 😂

‘Home is where the Bananas are’ is my playful take on the saying Home is Where the heart is. I have many fond memories from growing up in Avoca Beach with my parents and brothers. My Mum tended to a lush and wild backyard full of vines, flowers and various fruits with the most memorable being bananas. Many afternoons were spent exploring the backyard and watching the bananas turn from green to yellow and be turned into all sorts of treats from ice cream to banana bread. When I met my boyfriend Cooper 3 years ago, Mum gave us a banana palm shoot from her garden to plant at his family house. The palm has been growing with us and had its first bunch this year. I know I am home when I see a banana 🍌

Last month I went to South Korea and wowweeee what a beautiful place! I felt very drawn to paint some of the food we saw and ate in my watercolour journal.

I just realised I haven’t touched acrylic paints in months. Life gets so busy and I haven’t painted in what feels like forever. Here is your sign to get back to what you love!

Being an artist is a wild ride! its beautiful but also challenging. There are alot of ups and downs and I want to be more authentic on here and not just talk about all the good things. I’m a full time artist but I haven’t painted in months. Running a business is confusing, hard but also very rewarding. There is a lot of self doubt that you have to push through and sometimes it seems easier to just give up. Being an artist involves a lot more than just painting, it’s running a business and staying on top of a lot of different areas … emails, marketing, applying for new opportunities, grants, workshops, teaching, lesson prep and a whole lot of admin. I love the challenge but it can be exhausting, I’m sure all the creatives on here know exactly what I mean and can relate 💖

This post is a reminder to myself and to anyone reading this that is thinking about giving up, get back to what you love and remember why you started and then keep going!

Earlier this year I went to New Zealand on a little trip and did a few paintings in my Watercolour journal ❄️🏔️ I love bringing my journal with me when I’m travelling in case inspiration strikes and in NZ I wanted to paint EVERTHING!

✏️Why? Fun and educational after school art classes to give your child confidence in their art making abilities and a supportive space to learn, connect and grow 💖

This term all kids Art Club students will be working on a special piece for the Base Youth Art Prize 2025 in class 🎉 This is a wonderful opportunity for them to be involved in an art exhibition and have their work celebrated. Thank you Lauren from .art.space for putting this together! We can’t wait to be involved!
