5 THINGS MY UNIVERSITY DEGREE TAUGHT ME 📚😌

Are you thinking of going to uni or are you unsure what you want to do post graduating?

Aside from learning how to cram 3hrs of work into one and pull an all nighter I think uni has been a valuable experience for me. My 5 takeaways from this chapter have been...

1. To set healthy boundaries🛌
2. Don’t take it too seriously! 🙈
3. It’s never too late to make friends👭🏽
4. There is only so much you can do😌
5. It’s not for everyone!🤷🏽‍♀️

DEFINING THE DESIGN PROBLEM⬇️

Rebranding Pedigree Paper was a university assignment that turned into a fun, skill building exercise for me.

One of the biggest challenges in this brief was defining the problem. Pedigree paper already had a strong branding when I begun, so at first glance I was thinking where can I go from here?

So how do you define the design problem?

👉🏽Research, Research, Research - What is the brand? What do they have to offer? What are their values, mission and goals etc?

👉🏽Look at competitors- What is unique about this brand that you can potentially play up on? What gaps for opportunity are their in the current market?

👉🏽Empathise with the audience- who would purchase from this brand and why? What kind of personality do these people have? What do they see, hear, feel and think of this brand?

👉🏽Write one succinct statement that clearly defines the problem, audience, need, vision and the common message.

For this project I concluded that, as Pedigree Paper needed a new stand alone identity that reflects the opportunity for creative freedom and quality products, while remaining approachable to diverse target audience.

BRANDING THAT IS BEYOND THE ORDINARY AND EXPECTED🎨📄✍️

What do you get when you give a professional paper brand a playful and imaginative touch?✨🤽🏻‍♀️☁️

I'll tell you...

You get branding that is vibrant, energetic and can inspire people to feel creative! This was my goal for this Pedigree Papers' rebrand. As a professional printing and paper service, I wanted the branding to spark⚡️ a feeling of creativity and uphold Pedigree's reputation for providing limitless creative freedom to their clients.

The bright, energetic red, mixed with the dreamy purple undertones helps to reflect a dreamy, creative space throughout the website and other mediums. Pedigree Paper is the sub-brand of Ball and Doggett. Their logo is designed to reflect the letters P, B and D. The icon is a representation of paper flicking and also can reflect a sunset descending between the clouds from a horizontal perspective.

This modern brand identity is versatile across mediums and timeless. It reflects approachability to an audience of DIY markets as well as professionalism to high-end clients, therefore, giving Pedigree the ability to reach a diverse audience, which was an important factor of their brief.
