Cup Day in Mackay. The race stops the nation for a few minutes this afternoon, but the sun on your roof doesn't stop for anyone. If your panels are working as hard as they should, today's a good day for them. If you're not sure they are, we can tell you.

Enjoy the race, Mackay.

The tropical cyclone season in Queensland runs from November to April. Before the first big storm rolls in, four things worth doing:

1. Look at your panels from the ground. Anything lifted, cracked or hanging loose? Call us, don't climb up.
2. Clear your gutters and downpipes so the water has somewhere to go.
3. Find the solar shutdown procedure sign at your switchboard or inverter, so you know where it is before you need it.
4. After a storm, if a panel or a cable is damaged, keep clear and call a licensed electrician. Panels make electricity whenever light hits them, even with the system switched off.

Our Solar Health Check cleans and thermal scans every panel, with a photo report: $150 for up to 10 panels, then $15 a panel, plus travel outside Mackay. Book in November and the specialist solar soap is free (we only use it on Trina, LONGi and REC panels).

Scared of the dark? Your battery isn't. 🎃
A battery stores your daytime solar so the lights stay on after the sun goes down.
Get $1,500+ in free extras with a battery quote accepted by 30 November: bird proofing, a panel clean and a thermal check (values for a 24 panel system).

This is what people actually buy a battery for.

Not the technical spec. The evening where the street goes dark and inside your house nothing changes. The fridge hums, the fans keep going, the internet stays up and the kids do not care that anything happened.

That is not luck. It is a Blackout Plan decided before the install, in writing, listing the circuits that stay alive and roughly how long they last.

And we do not ask you to take our word for it. On install day we cut the power on purpose and show you the house running on its own before you pay the balance.

If you want to know what yours would run, send a photo of your latest power bill and we will size it from your own meter data. Free.

Every year the phone runs hot the week after the first big blow. And every year we have the same conversation, which is that a battery ordered in January is not protecting anyone in January.

There is a Snapshot, a site check, the paperwork with Ergon and then the install itself. Do it in September and you are ready before the season. Do it after the first outage and you are in the queue with everyone else who just lost a freezer.

We do 5 installs a month on purpose, because they are done properly and tested in one day by our own crew. That is the whole reason we open the pre season window now.

This month's window closes on 30 September. If you want your number before then, send us a photo of your latest power bill and we will start your Snapshot.

Ask anyone around here what they lost in the last long outage and nobody talks about the electricity.

They talk about the freezer. A season of fishing, the meat from the last bulk buy, the stuff you cannot just replace at the shops.

That is the part people forget when they price a battery. You are not only buying cheaper evenings. You are buying the thing that keeps running when the street does not.

Your Blackout Plan tells you in writing which circuits stay on and for how long, including the freezer in the garage if that is what matters to you. And we test it for real on install day before you pay the balance.

Send us a photo of your latest power bill and we will work out what your house would hold. Free either way.

You know the routine. The power goes, someone goes out to the shed, and the generator comes out onto the carport.

Then you are up at 2am topping up fuel, the neighbours can hear it, and it runs the fridge and not much else. If the servo has no power either, you are rationing what is in the jerry can.

It works. It is just not a plan, it is a scramble.

A battery does the same job silently and by itself. No fuel runs, no cords through the door, no getting up at 2am. It switches over on its own and most people only notice because the clocks did not blink.

If you want to see what a battery would cover in your house, we will size it from your own meter data and send you the number. Free, and yours to keep.

Every summer here it happens. The wind comes through, something goes down somewhere on the network, and half the suburb goes quiet at once.

Your solar does not help you then. Without a battery, a grid outage shuts your system down for safety, so the panels on your roof sit there doing nothing while the fridge warms up.

That surprises most people. They paid for power on the roof and it still goes off with everyone else.

A battery with backup is the difference. The lights, the fridge, the fans and the internet keep running on what your own roof made that day.

We call it your Blackout Plan and we put it in writing before you buy. It says exactly which circuits stay alive and for how long, and we prove it with a real blackout test on install day.

Want to know what your house would keep running? Send us a photo of your latest power bill and we will work it out from your own meter data. Free either way.

This is the most common conversation we have in Mackay.

Someone put solar on three or four years ago. The daytime bill dropped, which is exactly what it was supposed to do. And then the total stopped falling.

Nothing is broken. It is just that your family uses power in the evening, and that is the exact time your roof stops making it. So you sell the day at around 6 cents and buy the night back at around 25.

You do not fix that with more panels. You fix it by keeping what you already make.

The honest way to know if it is worth it on your house is to look at your own data instead of a brochure. We do that free. Send a photo of your latest power bill and we will send you the number, yours to keep whether you go ahead or not.

02/09/2026

Here's the part nobody explains when they sell you solar.

During the day your panels make more than the house uses, and the extra goes out to the grid. Ergon pays you around 6 cents for it.

Then the sun goes down. The aircon is still running, the kids are home, and you buy that same power back at around 25 cents.

Your system is working fine. You just don't get to keep what it makes.

That's the whole reason batteries exist in Mackay. Same power, stored for the hours you actually use it.

Want to know what that's worth on your roof? We'll work it out from your own meter data and send you the number. It's free and it's yours to keep, whether you go ahead or not.

Send us a message with a photo of your latest power bill and we'll start it.
