Payday Super is coming, and if your business runs payroll through Employment Hero, here's what you need to know.

From 1 July 2026, new legislative requirements around Qualifying Earnings (QE) and the Annual Maximum Contribution Base (MCB) will take effect.

The good news? Employment Hero has already released the configuration changes to prepare your payroll. Most businesses won't need to do much, pay categories are now auto-classified for QE, and STP will handle Codes Q and L automatically for post-July pay runs.

A few areas worth reviewing now:

✅ Pay category settings (especially if you have award or EBA super arrangements)
✅ Annual MCB configuration at employee or Pay Rate Template level
✅ Any API integrations that reference MCB fields

As your Employment Hero partner, we're here to make sure this transition is seamless. If you'd like us to review your configuration before the changeover, get in touch.

Payday Super starts 1 July 2026. Here's your Sybiz Visipay preparation checklist.

If you're running payroll through Sybiz Visipay, there are a few things you need to have in place before 1 July. Here's what matters most.

Sybiz Visipay 26.10, released 11 May 2026, is the minimum version required to support Payday Super. It completed ATO testing on 16 March 2026. If you haven't upgraded yet, that's the starting point.

Beyond the upgrade, there are a few things worth reviewing now:

Pay items flagged as Ordinary Time Earnings have been relabelled as Qualifying Earnings (QE) from version 26.00. The ATO will use this figure to calculate the Superannuation Guarantee Charge if your business misses a Payday Super obligation. It's worth reviewing your pay items to confirm the flags are applied correctly, particularly for director fees, bonuses, and commission pay items.

The Maximum Contribution Base is also changing from quarterly to annual. Visipay 26.10 handles the transition automatically, but it's worth understanding how the new annual figure of $270,830 will apply from 1 July.
And if you're currently using the Small Business Superannuation Clearing House, it ceases operation on 1 July 2026. Plans to move away from it need to be in place before then.

The compliance framework here is tighter than previous payroll legislation. There are no deferral provisions, and the 7-business-day contribution window starts from your pay date.

Sybiz has published a Getting Ready for Payday Super webinar that walks through the software changes and preparation steps in detail. Worth watching if you haven't already.

For businesses that want to work through their configuration before the changeover, that's where we can help.
At PBT, that's usually where our expertise starts.

Are you across your Sybiz Visipay configuration ahead of 1 July, or is there still work to do?
