💻 Getting a new computer? Don't forget about your data.

Microsoft has removed a recently introduced Windows feature that directly transferred files and settings from an old PC to a new one during setup.

You can still move everything across, but it's important to make sure your documents, photos and other important files are actually copied and checked before the old computer is wiped or retired.

AJP Digital Services can help set up your new PC, transfer your files and make sure everything important has made the move.

Printer refusing to cooperate just when you need it? 🖨️

Before assuming something is broken, a few simple checks can often get things working again.

Check the connection, paper and ink, make sure the right printer is selected, and try restarting both the printer and computer.

What’s the most frustrating printer problem you’ve had?

Do you ever find yourself forgetting passwords - or using the same one because it’s easier?

A password manager can securely store your logins, create strong unique passwords, and fill them in when you need them. That means fewer passwords to remember and less temptation to reuse the same one everywhere.

Some common options include Apple Passwords, Google Password Manager, Bitwarden, Proton Pass and 1Password.

The Australian Cyber Security Centre also recommends password managers as a way to create, manage and store passwords securely.

Do you currently use a password manager?

How strong are your passwords really?

Longer, unique passwords are one of the simplest ways to protect your accounts - especially for email, banking and social media.

If you're using the same password in multiple places, that's a good one to change first.

Do you use different passwords for your important accounts?

💡 Tech Tip Tuesday

Is your computer constantly warning you that it’s running out of space?

Old downloads, unused programs, duplicate photos and temporary files can gradually fill up your drive without you realising.

A little regular clean-up can free up space and help keep things running smoothly - just make sure important files are backed up before deleting anything.

When was the last time you checked how much storage you have left?

🎮 Games suddenly crashing after the latest Windows update?

Microsoft is investigating an issue affecting some Windows 11 PCs after the August security update.

The problem appears to involve certain RGB-lighting hardware or software drivers and can cause some games to freeze, close unexpectedly or show an error.

This does not affect every Windows 11 computer, so there's no reason to uninstall updates or disable anything if your PC is working normally.

If your gaming PC only started crashing after the August update, it's worth checking the exact Windows version and RGB-control software before assuming there's a hardware failure.

Would you spot the warning signs in a scam email?

Suspicious senders, urgent language and unexpected links are all common red flags - and even small spelling mistakes can be a clue.

If you're ever unsure, don't click. Take a moment to verify the message another way first.

Have you received a scam email recently?
