The origin of the name "RedEyed Technologies"
I've been associating myself with the "RedEyed" brand for more than 10 years to date, but have only recently registered a version of the name officially.
The truth is, that the "RedEyed" brand was initially conceived of as the name of a gaming clan back around 2005, and the reason we were "red-eyed" was because of our habit of staying up all night to play video games.
When I started looking for a brand to associate with my open-source software releases at GitHub, the "RedEyed" brand seemed to be the perfect choice since it reflected the way I've worked for much of my career - hammering away at a problem until all-hours crafting the most elegant solution I could muster.
The original RedEyed logo consisting of the "eyebrow" slash and triple stars was created by my youngest brother, Craig, who adapted the triple stars motif from our family coat-of-arms.
(And on a more personal level, we've always felt that those stars represented "us" - the three brothers of the Poulton family.)
So, there you have it. The "RedEyed" brand may be a little out of the ordinary for a technology business, but it's one that has significant meaning to me personally - which is why it's the perfect brand to represent myself and my work.
Please bear with me while I get my online presence polished up and sorted out - I hope you'll find it both enlightening and entertaining once I've got it rolling along.
