Hey guys - noticed a few new faces around here, so a quick reintroduction feels overdue. 👋🏼
I left law. Then I built a tool for people moving their dogs across borders.
It started with my own dog, Kio.
I'd always planned to move abroad once I was licensed. Australia was my first choice - until I figured out what getting Kio there actually involved: cargo, a layover in Dubai, and quarantine. So I chose Dubai instead.
Then everything got complicated. The UAE import site rejected my Canadian credit card, then glitched and told me I'd already imported too many dogs. I have one dog.
The bigger problem was the export paperwork. Canada required one thing within 48 hours of travel. The airline required everything 72 hours in advance. The timelines didn't line up. And there was no one source that could tell me, clearly, what I actually needed to do.
The rules weren't necessarily hard. The hard part was figuring out how they all fit together.
So I built the thing I wished existed: an in-cabin relocation concierge for dogs.
But then a war broke out in the region. Flights became unpredictable, and I ended up putting Kio in cargo myself - the exact thing I'd spent all that time trying to avoid.
He was fine. More than fine.
That's when it hit me: most dog owners panic simply because no one's told them what their options are.
So I built Furs Class Travel - a tool that helps UK dog owners understand their options before they're standing at an airport wondering if they've missed something.
Every regulatory claim on it is checked against primary sources before it goes live because I know exactly what it costs someone when a rule turns out to be wrong. 🐾✈️
